Try to fight through this. This would be a setting either in your monitor, or in the display program you have installed on your computer for your monitor. Turn your monitor sideways if you need to, to fix this problem.

  • Hello chaleebradsh, the "Monitor" as well the Computer have "Power Saving Modes," [Sleep, ScreenSavers, and Hibernation]; so what you want to do is "Change the way the Computer / Monitor Sleeps!" From the Desktop Screen, click on the "Start Button," next in the [Start Search Window], type: power. In the next [window] that opens, you should see, from your point of view; a "list" in the (left column) "Change when the computer sleep, the wording may be different, but it will be clear enough. Now all you have to do is change the way the Computer and Monitor "Sleep, or Turn-off." If the Monitor have its own "settings;" just find them by the [button on the monitor], and do the same thing as above; but I'm sure the computer will take care of both. this sounds like the screen may be trying to display a resolution higher than the screen can support. Try booting up in safe mode and seeing if you can see your desktop. Also is this the only monitor connected to your PC or is this a dual screen setup? If it is dual screen you may not have your second montor turned on.

This problem is caused by 2 things, the computer is set to a higher resolution that the monitors can handle, so when the graphics card drivers kick in as windows boots the screen goes blank, this is normally the problem for people trying to hook there computers to normal lcd televisions not monitors, as monitors generally are able to show higher resalutions.

In your case because you are using computer monitors, the problem will be caused by the refresh rate settings on the windows, most desktop lcd monitors have a fixed refresh rate of 60hz, my guess is your computers are set as 75hz therefore as windows boots the screen goes blank because it dosent support that high a refresh rate.

To resolve this problem, just before windows boots press F8 on the keyboard, this should bring up a black command prompt screen, at the top you will see the safemood option, tab up to it and press enter, this goes to windows but dosent load any drivers including the graphics driver. Once loaded right click the mouse in the middle of the screen, and bring the display properties window up, in this window click on the settings tab, click on advanced on the bottem right of the window, this will bring up another window, click on the monitor tab, on this window you will see the screen refresh rste setting, click the small arrow and set this to 60hz and click ok, in the other window reduce the resalution down abit using the slider, click apply and close the window, then reboot the mechine as normal, the problem should now be sorted, any problems post me back. thanks and hope this helped.

I have an Acer AL2017 20inch. As of recent the

try these steps - in this order:
  1. Download the latest drivers for your video card but do not install it yet.
  2. Uninstall any video card software installed (ati catalyst/control center - nvidia etc)
  3. go to device manager, expand video adapters, and right click to uninstall them both.
  4. Reboot your pc. Windows will install a generic driver when it boots up. From there, install the new video drivers you downloaded in step 1.
  5. Get the monitor driver here: http://www.zdnetasia.com/downloads/pc/swinfo/0,39043052,50002410r-39518824s,00.htm and install it
  6. That should fix it. Let me know what happens.

No Signal when desktop wants to load

It does not hate that monitor. I believe the problem is in the settings on your video. Your monitor cannot display them. You will most likely need to start your computer in safe mode and change the display settings on your video card or, alternatively, download updated video drivers. Also, if you can't get Windows to start in normal or safe mode, one of the options you get when you press F8 on startup is to start in VGA mode. That will get you in so you can tweak your settings, which are probably set to a resolution too high for your monitor.

No Display - Screen says "NOT SUPPORTED"

Turn your computer on.
When the boot screen cahnges to black start pressing F8
You should get a Windows startup screen
If you see the Windows Logo loading page, then hit the reset button and tray again.
On the Windows Start page, select Safe mode.
Press enter twice and Windows will load
Go into display properties (right click on the desktop and you will see it on the menu)
A box will pop up, select the last tab (Display Properties) there will be a slider on the left side. Move it left to around 800x600.
Select apply and then close the window.
Restart Windows normally and it should be fine.

If not, post back and we will try something else.
Hope it helps =)
