You do not need to register XP only activate it. Does it need to be activated or registered? If registered tell it you what to mail it in.

Insert the XP CD into your computer, after it autoruns click explore.
go into the i386 folder and find UNATTEND.txt, open and find (you can use alt+f) the line ProductKey. The product key will be in right there.

You have to purchase the product online. Then you will be given the product key to open it and use it. Even if the product is already installed on your computers hard drive, you still have to purchase it to get the product key. The product key is different for each person that buys SP2. Thus, you cannot share product keys to give the software to another person for free.

How to solve windows update problem

This issue occurs because the Wups2.dll file that is included in the latest version of Windows Update is not installed correctly.

For scenario 1, the registry entries that correspond to the Wups2.dll file are missing after the repair install of Windows XP. The release version of Windows XP does not contain the Windows Update software.

For scenario 2, the registry entries that correspond to Windows Update are changed back to the Windows XP SP2 version if you did not restart the computer before you install Windows XP SP3. The registry entries for the Wups2.dll file are changed to pointing to the Wups.dll file that is included in the release version of Windows XP SP2.
Method 1: Download and install the Windows Update Agent Method 2: Register the Wups2.dll file

Product key windows sp2

If you purchased a computer since 2001, the decal on the computer (side-panel of a desktop, or bottom of a laptop) will have the 25-character product-key.

If you purchased Windows XP at a "retail" store, the product-key was included.

If you made an online purchase of Windows XP, check your E-mail (and your 'JunkMail' folder) for a message containing the product-key.

Product Key for windows xp,home edition,sp2.

the product key should be on a sticker on the side of your computer, if not it should be on a sticker on the cd cover. if you have neither of these you will not be able to install it. if you use one from another computer you will get the message that windows failed validation sooner or later and be forced to purchase new license online.

I tryed to reboot my laptop with a windows xp home oem w/sp2 and it asking for a product key and i dont have one and it wont let me go no father

If you are trying to install with a OEM CD for that brand system, all you have to do is BOOT to the CD and load windows and it will auto-generate the product key and auto-activate. If the media is not that manufacturer, then the product key is required

Please tell me product key of xp preo servis pack 2

Your product key will be located on the packaging of your purchased operating system, or located somewhere on the computer you are installing xp on. Your product key is your license to the product, and is not something shared with others online.

The dest top OS Win XP crashed reinstalled and to be keyed

Here's How:
  1. Click on Start and then Run.
  2. In the text box in the Run window, type regedit and click OK. This will open the Registry Editor program.
  3. Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder under My Computer and click on the (+) sign next the folder name to expand the folder.
  4. Continue to expand folders until you reach the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents registry key.
  5. Click on the WPAEvents folder.
  6. In the results that appear in the window on the right, locate OOBETimer.
  7. Right-click on the OOBETimer entry and choose Modify from the resulting menu.
  8. Change at least one digit in the Value data text box and click OK. This will deactivate Windows XP.
  9. Click on Start and then Run.
  10. In the text box in the Run window, type the following command and click OK.
    %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
  11. When the Windows Product Activation window appears, choose Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows and then click Next.
  12. Click Change Product Key.
  13. Type your new, valid Windows XP product key in the New key text boxes and then click Update.
  14. If you're taken back to the previous screen and prompted, choose Remind me later.
  15. Restart your PC.
  1. Not comfortable making registry changes? Luckily there is another option if you need to change your Windows XP product key code. The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder, a popular product key finder program, also has the ability to easily change the Windows XP product key. If the registry makes you nervous, this is a great alternative solution to changing the Windows XP product key code manually.

P.S.: If this information was helpful, please rate this solution.
