Just go to (start, control panel, administrative options, computer management, device manager.) Look for your sound card with a yellow question mark. Right click on it and update or install driver. Make sure to allow windows to search online for the driver. This will solve your problem.

Inappropriate? You wanted to know the name of your sound card right? That's how you do it! And you can also install it without knowing the brand. Just by doing what i told you to do. Don't rate me unless your going to have some respect for my opinions. It was not inappropriate, it was helpful.

My sound driver forgotten. pel find out help me now.

Do you have a driver CD for your PC? Try running "Setup" from your CD and try to find an option of installing the audio drivers. This should automatically install the sound driver for your system. If this doesn't work, you may try also the following:
1. Go to Device Manager (Click on START > RUN and type in "devmgmt.msc") 2. Find a device with a yellow question mark on it. 3. Right click on it and select "Update Driver" 4. A Hardware Update Wizard window will appear. 5. Just click on "Next" until you are prompted to select "Install the software automatically" 6. The system should be able to install at least the compatible driver for your audio system.
Please let me know if these steps work.

Never had audio on this compaq. presario.

Put your PC on. On the menu, left click, setting, control panel, and then add hardware. This is find out whether you have your sound card installed or not. If
not, have it installed by clicking on the add hardware menu. Or you can click on the Systems, then
hardware, and finally the Device Manager. Right click
on the sounds, audio to find if it is working properly. If it is, then check your speaker systems. Set the
volume to the lowest level just enough for you to hear
a sound. Plug it to a small radio output, and find out
if it has audio (sounds). No sound, replace it. If it is
OK, your have no other alternative but to install sound
driver software by CD. If this is not available, you can
download it from the internet. Type at the search en-
gine blank (Free sound, audio, driver software) and
left click the search engine. Once you have the site,
you can click at the download. Back to your PC, After completion, click the download open and install
it. Just follow the instructions and you will have sound
driver software installed. After finishing the download,
you can test it, by putting a CD inside your CD player. Click open your media player, and play.

I have no sound at all.

Activate our PC, and left click and open, Setting, Control Panel, Systems, Hardware, and finally the Device Manager. Once opened, you will see the hardware devices installed in your PC. Left Click the Sound, Audio and right click to open to see the properties and status of this particular item. If this is not working properly, you must get a software driver CD for the sound card. If you don't have the CD, get
connected to the internet, and a download, Just type
at the Search engine blank (Free download for sound
driver software). Once you the site, take your download (Realtek AC 97) . Once completed, Click

I just formatted my HP Pavillion a1420n, and audio drivers did not install, I have no clue what drivers I need nor where to find them. Thank you for your time

If you open your Start Menu and go to Settings>Control Panel>System and then click on the tab labeled "Hardware" you will see an alphabetical listing of your device's components. Select "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" and then right-click on it and select "Scan For Hardware Changes." This should get you on the road, and direct you how to re-install your drivers. Good luck!

SOLUTION #1: If you have a driver CD that came with your eMachine, look for the audio folder on the CD. If there is a "setup" program inside this folder, then run it. SOLUTION #2: Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, right click on sound device, choose Update driver, install from list, don't search, have disk, browse to the audio driver location on the driver CD, then okay it. SOLUTION #3: Download the file from the following URL, unzip it, then run the SETUP program inside the folder. http://downloads.emachines.com/drivers/audio/T1140_50_Audio.zip
