Check to make sure that the reciever doesn't require you to select the output type in the receiver menu. One of mine had choices like component,s video, hdmi, etc. I hope that's all it is. If it's the actual HDMI out, you really should let sceptre fix it. It is difficult to repair these flat panels, and you will void the warantee if you open it. Does that Gamer model use the DVI out from the video card?

Do you need a hdmi cable?

    there is a convertor for connecting a vga to hdmi, but what I am saying is that it is a waste of money to use one, hdmi = high definition media interface
    vga = video graphics adapter

    hdmi is for high def content ie high bandwidth

    a vga connection cannot supply enough bandwidth, it will work but not like you want it to.

Where do I plug in headphones?

Looking at the specs for your TV, it does not appear to have the jack for earphones.

You will have to connect an audio receiver to your TV and use the reciever's jack.

I have a yamaha receiver with HDMI outputs for direct tv, and a DVD player. How do I hook up the direct tv, HD DVD, and yamaha receiver? Where do the inputs go?

Does the Yamaha have HDMI inputs? Usually you would connect the directv and dvd player via individual HDMI cables to the Yamaha (input)and then the Yamaha (output) to your TV also via HDMI.

Connect pc to hd tv

use a vga to dvi or a vga to vga connector lead from the back of your notebook, to the tv dependong on your tv connection inputs, although you will only get 720i not 1080i as you will need a notebook with an hdmi port for that resolution.
