ALPS mouse pad too sensitive. Can't find

ALPS mouse pad too sensitive. Can't find adjustment for this. Am always dragging and dropping unintentionally.

I was looking for touch-pad solutions for my Acer Aspire 4730Z. I may have inadvertantly posted the problem with another laptop? There is no sensitivity adjustment for the ALPS touch-pad on my Acer. From what I have read, this is a common problem for the Acer 4730, and there is no driver update to resolve this problem as of yet. When typing, my cursor moves anywhere on the page where the typing then starts, as well as dragging and dropping problems. A sensitivity adjustment should mandatory on a touch-pad. I have adjustments for about everything else, tap speed, scroll adj, etc.

I had this problem too and it annoyed the hell outta me...i finally found out how to fix it.

First you have to delete the Alps mouse drivers completely. Then go to Acer's site and download the latest mouse drivers...they'll include a driver for Synapsis and Alps...just install the Alps one.

Once installed it will show up in your task tray near the clock...from there you can go into the options and disable "tapping"

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Now I can type away quickly without worrying about the cursor jumping all over the place. Takes a little while though to get used to not using the touch pad to open links/folders...but worth it not having sentences starting in random places as you type.

Touchpad drag and drop from surveys

This can be accomplished a couple of ways. Depending on the model of your computer there may be a pressure sensitive switch under the mouse pad that pressing a little harder will actuate. Another method is there might be 'virtual' mouse buttons on your trackpad. Put one finger in the flower left corner and drag on the pad with another. Finally, there is a setting for a double click drag and drop. Tap the mouse pad twice and on the second tap keep your finger on the pad and move it. Good luck!

Hcl me laptop, touchpad too sensitive, how to control?

There is an adjustment for this sensitivity go to control panel and look up the mouse if there is not icon on the tray to do any options. What your looking for in short is options in the option tick sensitivity there you can adjust it for your comfort. Locate this and your on your way. If you cannot find any touch pad information go to your manufactures web site and download the driver or software for your touch pad. It should drop to the task bar as an icon below. Or if you have the show all icons turned off turn it on it may be in there. The best way to do that is right click in the tray where the icons are and select show all icons or if you see the mouse pad icon there open it and tick options.
That is what I would do Win 7 may have loaded it but the actual configuration files may not have been downloaded, you may also wish to check out the Windows Updates and tick on all the updates you have missed you may find the software there for the mouse pad updates.
That is all I can offer maybe someone else has a better answer here. John

How do you adjust the sensitivity of an ALPS pointing device touch pad with VISTA.

You may very well find you ALPS driver installed on the laptop in question doesn't have a sensitivity setting.

In that case you can try locating this driver:
ALPS Touchpad Driver 7.2.302.105
I know it can be found on "".

Installing it may resolve your problem as it updates the lack of sensitivity settings in older ALPS drivers for touchpads that have the capability to discern the level of pressure being applied to them.

Touch pad too sensitive, it always messes me up when I'm typing

You could try adjust the touchpad settings. Sometimes there is a touchpad icon in the taskbar that you can right click on to adjust the properties. You can also disable the pad and use a USB mouse instead.

Problem with my Mouse cursor

If it's an external mouse you are using with the slow dragging problem then it could be a problem with the mouse itself ,internal ,try to clean the pad with a moist cloth while laptop is off.
Also look in the mouse setting and change the pointer speed.
Also try a plain coloured mouse pad and not one with mixed colours.
Download the vga driver from here and reinstall it :
