Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
Just plugging in speakers should not mess up the sound board, it might of been on it's last leg regardless of what you have done. To ensure you have the most updated sound drivers though go to: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D600
Select accordingly your operating system and settings. Then down to audio to install the software.
If this does not solve the problem you will need it repaired at a computer shop and have the sound board replaced.
