That speaker grille does come off. There are some adjustments servicers occasionally need to get at behind it, so it usually just snaps on with some plastic fasteners holding it in place. You just need to grab it by the sides and pull forward.

Now having said that, I'll admit I'm not familiar with every Toshiba model. So yours might be different. Every one I've worked on so far has had a snap-on grille. But some manufacturers hide mounting screws under a trim strip between the bottom of the screen and the top of the speaker grille. This strip is held on by snap fasteners, and when you take it off you'll find screws holding the top of the speaker grille in place. So if the grille absolutely doesn't just want to pull off, check for that trim strip method.

How do i remove the screen to my Mitsubishi wd-62638

For the model indicated (WD-62638) the entire screen unit needs to be removed.

Some models had two mirrors--the usual large one in back and a tiny one in the bottom front.

1. Locate and remove front plate below screen (where you may access the lamp as most of these are taken out from front)

2. Remove all the screws ON THE BACK OF THE SET around the top and both sides.

3. Remove a plate behind the removed lower front grill and there you should find a set of wires that go to front keyboard.

4. With that done look carefully at either front side below the screen unit---one screw on either side---do not remove but just back them out.

5. 2 person job---the entire screen unit lifts up and out.

6. DO NOT try to clean the large mirror---if touched with hand or your hair it will smudge and it will show in the picture.

7. If the little mirror is there at the bottom---it can be cleaned with glass cleaner---

8. Insert the screen unit back with the two front lower screws supporting it (have someone hold it in place until you line up and install all all the rear and then the 2 front screws.

Let me know if you have questions.

Trying to remove screen but its still attached at the bottom want to clean mirror.

Have you removed the speaker cover from the front? Behind it you should find fasteners that hold the bottom of the screen in place. When you clean the mirror remember to also clean the lenses of the CRT guns as well. Be gentle and use products designed for the purpose.

Yes, front screen can be removed to clean projection mirror and picture tubes lenses.

There are 3 screws at bottom of front screen, remove them. There are few wire harness plugs need to be disconnect to remove completely front screen.

Need to remove the screen on ws55859 to clean mirror and lens, it is almost 10 years old and time to be cleaned.

Remove front speaker grill(s) at the bottom of the screen behind the speaker grill you will find four or more black screws hold the bottom in. Look carefully to see the front keyboard needs to be unplugged---usually one or two different size plugs; you may have to remove the inspection plate located in back of the speaker grill to get to the point where they can be disconnected, with the keyboard disconnected the entire screen lifts straight up(you need to bring it up 3-4 inches and then it comes straight out(there are two hooks on either side that it goes into--when you finish line up a little and slide it back until it is back in place.

Clean the mirror with glass cleaner and the lens can be cleaned with a lens cloth or with a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on it.

Replace the screws and the speaker grill unit for the set.

I do this here for free so if this helps you give me a vote here.

Toshiba screen removal

Remove the front speaker grill, remove the front access plate. Undo the front control panel wire harness via plug connector, undo convergence sensor wire harness via plug connector, remove screws holding bottom screen frame. Screen should come off with frame. Some models have retainer clips that hold frame to the front of the cabinet and you must pull the frame off these retainers but I do not think that is the case with this one.
Hope this helps,

Inside screen seems to be getting dirty

I had the same problem until I removed the screen and cleaned the front mirror with a static feather duster. First, turn OFF power. Second, remove screws on rear at top and on both sides of the screen. Third, remove speaker grill. Fourth, remove screws on each side of the screen where screen meets the speaker area. Fifth, remove two screws in center area of speaker area under screen. Sixth, lift screen up and away from set housing and use a duster with a two to three extension and GENTLY wipe the noticeable dust layer from the front tilted mirror located behind the screen at bottom of screen. Seventh, do everything in the REVERSE and you're done. If you need to replace the lamp, now's a good time to do so. Also you should clean the dust filter located behind an access door on the rear (right hand side as your are looking at the rear) with a handheld type of vacuum device.

After I completed ALL of the above procedures my WD-62525 was better than I remember. I bought it in 2005 and the picture quality has never looked so good.

The screen is as light as a feather but 62" is awkward. It is recommended you use another person to hold the screen but I work best alone and it was a breeze.

GOOD LUCK.
