First off did you format ur memory card? Casio only has 3 brands of memory cards they have tested their cameras with....Sandisc, Toshiba, and Panasonic. The exz600 can take up to a 2 GB card from those manufacturers with no problem. I would make sure that your mem card is formatted. If it is, try a different card. If you don't care about the pics that are stored on your internal mem then you can format your camera, put in a new mem card and then format that. You always have the option of transfering the pics to ur computer first before formatting. After formatting make sure you reset your camera also. Format: in REC mode press menu go to setup tab go up to format press right arrow make sure format highlighted and press set Camera will say "busy please wait" Reset: In REC mode press menu go to setup tab go up to reset press right arrow make sure reset is highlighted & press set.

SOURCE: the screen is black and
Are the pictures also black?
Is so the main circuit board in the camera is probably faulty. This is expensive to replace.
If the Pics are still good it could be the display has been turned to off or the lcd has been damaged and/or back light is not operating.
If you could give some answers to the above we might be able to norrow down you issue further. Please also advise exactly what model Casio you have.

Hi there and thanks for coming to FixYa.
90 percent of the time, it's dirt, sand or grit that has gotten into the lens mechanism preventing it from opening properly. Try this:
Take an air compressor if you have one, or maybe you can use a friends, anyway, put the nozzle up to the camera and run it around the space between the lens and the camera to clean out any dirt or yuk that may have gotten in there. Best of luck. Leave me a comment if you have any other questions.

It sounds like you have a very slow memory card, go to a reputable store and ask for the fastest card they have, they are not much and worth it. Remember dirt sand and dust are your cameras enemy, avoid dirt, and get a dust proof bag to keep it in.
