M6810 keyboard issue

My laptop got jostled and I think the keyboard’s connection to the motherboard came loose. Can anyone tell me how to get to the keyboard internals? I did not want to just start unscrewing willy-nilly. It’s an E-machine notebook m6810.

Emachine m6810 how do I open the case need to replace or soldier the dc input connector. Unit will not charge although charger is operational. check w voltmeter

Pretty much the entire laptop needs to be disassembled. All screws removed from the bottom. The keyboard removed. The hard drive and the cd drive. You will have to separate the besel from the screen to remove the hindges. Unplug the lcd and wireless if you have it. That plug is attached to the motherboard which is a double sided board and the connections are on the bottom. The motherboard needs to be removed to repair the connection.

How do you remove the cd/dvd rom in a emachine m6810

This is not an easy task, but first unsnap the the swivel cover just beneath the lcd screen. unscrew the keyboard securing screws and carefully lift out the keyboard ans separate the tape cable, now look and locate the securing screw for your dvd rom and just slide it out. Installation is in reverse. Please use caution as not to damage the internal parts and connections. Good Luck

Acer Aspire 5100 Keyboard Not Working

this is a common fault in the acer aspire 5100 series, also in few other series, 3102wlmi, I have it here. same issue as you. I ordered a new keyboard for it but Haven't tried it yet. unlikely to solve the problem. I beleave the issue is on the motherboard.

Touchpad and keyboard are dead on my 3102 also. I will try the new keyboard on Thursday and get back to you if it solved the problem.

possibly the only fix that can be performed at home is to replace the whole board, most computer repair shops will also just replace the motherboard.

it will require a close inspection on the motherboard, have you already contacted acer? I think the price of a new motherboard at is around 200-500 usd I haven't checked myself.

Laptop problem

This is a known issue with the T40 series. I have the same problem. It's a result of a manufacturing defect introduced through a new soldering process Lenovo used on this series. Basically, they baked the motherboard in an oven instead of soldering the components on one by one. This resulted in many of the graphics chips not fully connecting. After normal use, a corner can pop up, causing the screen to go blank if you move, lift or jostle the laptop.

As far as I know, Lenovo doesn't offer any fixes for this. If you wish to risk it, you could try soldering the loose corner yourself. Some people found a wedge works well. I stuff carboard between my keyboard and the chip to keep it down. Other people hve been known to use post-it notes.
