Yes, replace the t-stat.
It is the only part that sends power to the compressor.

Why does everything freeze in my T-49 True refrigerator

The cooling coil is probably frozen up. Shut it off and leave the door open over night. Start it up in the morning and see if its more accurate. Down the road you may find you have issues like leaving the door open in high temperatures, maybe the coil is plugged with paper, ice, dust etc. and needs to be cleaned, or maybe it was improperly charged by the last service man that worked on it. The charge should have been weighed in with a scale by the ounce. Good luck and hope this helps.

hi john.not freezing could be anything but i would start by checking if u have any ice build up in the freezer.if yes defrost everything first completely and try.if ok great.if same again after a few days then i think your problem will be either 1-defrost timer 2-defrost heater 3-t/stat 4-if not iced up at all check door switch/fanmotor 5-check/clean condensing unit 6-check cond/fan 7-check motor (visual/feel/noise (hot or cold and running noise) 8-condenser warm(if cold could be lack of refrigerant;internal leak or motor)hope this helps good luck.Ali

Does not freeze

first you must find out if it is a refrigeration fault or an electrical fault. if it is refrigeration - it usually is a gas leak. this will cause the fridge to run and run and not cool anything. if it is electrical. it may run and run and freeze everything - T/stat. not run at all - t/stat fault or short cycle on and off - compressor or relay fault. hope this helps.

Runs constantly even on lowest settin. Freezes contents.

Hi, sounds as though you are having a thermostat control problem. Try turning the stat slowly in each direction as far as you can to determine which direction is coldest or warmer, or it may say. You want to see if it will shut the compressor off. If it were low on freon it would also run all the time trying to keep up on a call for cooling, but you would not have everything freezing. Its a stat problem if it will not shut off when you turn the dial all the way in either direction, and will need to be replaced. If this is something you want to take on, you will need to get the model, serial, and name and size off unit and get a new control stat at a appliance parts house. They can be tricky to replace as the capillary tube on the stat runs up into the evaporator coil of the freezer, which makes it hard to change. Your only other choice would be to get estimates on having it changed for you. Depending on the age of this unit, and what you paid for it, I would take all of this into count before you have a tech come out, as they can be costly. Try turning the control to see if you can get it to cycle off, and if it does, set it about 2 settings higher then that to see if this will solve your problem. Please keep me posted on the out come.

Delfield ColdPro Refrigerator, Commercial unit, two door reach in... recently has begun to freeze.... Temp setting stays at 37F and for some reason, just on occasion it will drop to 0... and everything...

Intermittent failure of thermostat is the most likely problem.

Check the temp sensor to make sure it is clean.

You can check for voltage coming out of the thermostat when the unit is working improperly.

If the setting is on.... say, 36, the temp is... say, 26, and there is still voltage coming from the T-stat telling the compressor and fan motors to operate, then you have a bad T-stat/sensor.

Most T-stats for that type unit do not have a separate removable sensor, its all one part with a sensor on a long tube/wire.

You can probably buy one from your local refrigeration supply warehouse for less than 35 bucks.

If it were a more consistent problem, I would say you have clogged coils or low refrigerant. But if most times it works fine, and then just randomly will not shut off, that's likely a controls thing. = T-stat.

Hotpoint ffa97p - the fridge is too cold and not responding to temperature changing

I'm assuming you're meaning that you reset the "cold control" in the refrigerator area and it is not responding. Try resetting the T stat in the freezer to between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 and see if the unit continues to run on. If I have this the other way around, set the "cold control" the same as the T stat. The "cold control" is just a flapper door, it doesn't control the compressor only the T stat in the freezer does..
If the T stat is set as I said and the unit just keeps on running and never shuts down except to defrost, the T stat is bad and needs replaced.
There is a chance that the flapper door in the "cold control" is stuck wide open. Removing the cover and inspecting it might tell you if that's happening.

Refrigerator runs almost all day

Your refer will run about 85% of the time, But if your refer items are freezing i would recommend you replace the refer t-stat. The only time your unit will shut down is when it's in a defrost ( about every 8 hours for 30 Min's or less ) and by your t-stat when it reaches temp, if you have it set to a warmer setting and it's freezing you items then for sure you have a bad t-stat. Hope this helps you
