USB 2.0 (Chipset VIA 8237) ECS P4M800-M7 Unknow Device

My S.O.: Windows XP Professional SP2 PT-BR (Brazilian Portuguese)
My Motherboard: ECS P4M800-M7 (Chipset VIA 8237 - 4USB 1.1 and 4USB 2.0).

When plugin my pendrive Kingston 1g 2.0 in USB 1.1 know sucessful.
But plugin my pendrive in USB 2.0 don't know my device.
All is properly connected. The driver installed is the of the Microsoft Windows XP SP2. Into the site from VIA don't have drivers xp SP2 only to SP1. In some foruns what find the Internet they say what that's a problem of the chipset VIA. Don't know solution. They say too that can be a bug of the driver HUB usb 2.0 and the microsoft sends the patch for email (there isn't link for download). I send a email, but the Microsoft dont answer me.

Very Thanks,
John FelixI have the same problem. The usb 2.0 hub worked when i first
reinstalled windows xp pro. Then did upgrade to service pack 2
then 3 and the usb hub would quit working when windows would
load. It would quit when windows loads Mup.sys. I have tried
installing the via updates but nothing works.

Unplug computer power cord for ten minutes , if computer is a laptop also remove the laptop battery at the same time, as the problem may be caused by accumulation of electrostatic charges on USB, and draining power can help.

I have a ECS P4M800-M7 (V3.1) motherboard , does this motherboard supports Intel Dual Core E5700 ?

this motherboard supports the following
LGA775 socket for Intel Pentium 4/ Celeron D/ Pentium D processor
FSB 800/533 MHz
so anything above that might not work or just simply be a waste of money

the e5700 will fit as it's the same socket configuration as the motherboard but here's the rub, the 5700 is only compatible with motherboards that have intel chipsets and, according to the website, your motherboard doesn't have an intel cjipset, but a via chipset.

so the simple answer is no!

I need a user's manual for my Via P4M4A Pro mainboard. Via won't respond to my requests. Help!

Hi.

Via usually only make the chipset - not the motherboard. Find the manufacturers model number printed on the motherboard then go to the website and download the manual.
If you had for example an ECS P4M800-M7 you would go to

Front panel usb

Step 1: Decide weither you have one or two USB cables joined together, it should look like a 4 PIN header.

Step 2: Get your manual from ECS: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWorldWide/Index.aspx?MenuID=0&LanID=9

Step 3: Install the 4 PIN header the right way +5V, - DATA, + DATA, GND on the motherboard, refer to the manual if you get stuck.

USB 2.0 (Chipset VIA 8237) ECS P4M800-M7 Unknow Device

Hi, John

The USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 is a big issue regarding technology, the 1.1 has maximum speed of 12 megabits where as 2.0 has upto 480 Mbps. And all USB 2.0 devices are compatible with 1.1. Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional are both fully USB 2.0-compliant with the correct drivers.

So in your case it must work properly. But if the USB 2.0 from microsoft got currepted or badly updated by some thirdparty USB 2.0 driver then it will not work. I have been faced this problem. After doing some stuff I found that if I uninstall the USB drivers and reinstall it from microsoft driver then it works.

So, just go to the Device manager and un-install the USB drivers, then reboot the system to parmanently delete the removed driver. Then install the driver from Windows XP CD.

good luck

Thanks
Iqbal
