Door broke door comes crashing down, nylon rope broke. where can I get parts and how to fix it

I've replaced the nylon ropes on both sides, but now door does not 'latch' closed: pops open about 1 inch. Door stays open at whatever point I put it at, so it seems the tension is right, door just won't latch.

Pick up some nylon rope (same diameter or slightly larger) at any home store such as Home Depot, Lowes etc.. Need to attach the original plastic ends to your new nylon rope as well as to the door spring and then re-install on the bottom side of the door. Hopefully the other rope for the door assist is still intact so you can use that side as a guide as to how to route it around the pulley. Make sure that you lube the new rope up with some Vaseline etc. My door was squeaking very bad. Seems that the rope dries out over time which could have possibly caused your to snap. Pretty bad when your $1200 dishwasher door uses a length of small diameter rope to keep your door loaded with sensitive electronic boards from crashing to the floor!!!

Why does my dishwasher door fall freely when opened?

There are springs and pulleys that assist the door. They use a nylon rope that is very thin to connect the pulleys door and springs. The rope is most likely broken.

How do i fix a broken spring on a dishwasher door

You will need to pull the dishwasher out about 12" to 18" to be able to get to the springs & rope links. Many dishwashers use a "rope link" to connect between the spring and the door hinge; and in others, the door springs connect directly to the door hinges. Once you pull the dishwasher out, you will easily see what broke and what you need to fixe it.

Door spring rope broke on door , door falls when opened like to fix it need part and diagram of unit

http://www.bosch-eshop.com - enter the correct model number: SHE43P05UC in the search box on the right side, select which dishwasher you have from the results list. Click on the number of the part you need, it should show the manuf. par number on bottom.

or go to http://www.searspartsdirect.com and check there.
Once you get the manufacturer's part numbers - go to http://www.repairclinic.com - they have pictures of most parts.

We just had the hinges or spring in the door of the diswasher break. The door falls open instead of holding in a semi open position. Is this hard for a homeowner to repair?

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description, I'd say you are correct ( yes I believe most homeowners aka do-it-yourselfers can repair this ). Either one or both of the door link kits/springs broken. It's an easy enough repair, though the unit does need to be pulled out, slightly
.

First, slide the entire unit out from the cabinet a couple or three inches and you`ll see the plastic roller assembly and rope ( except yours is likely broke...at least one by the sounds of your description ) attached to the side.

**You`ll need to insure your connections will allow you to pull the unit out however, otherwise they - water, power, drain hose - must be disconnected to prevent any damage.**

If you have any reservation to performing this repair on your own please call in a qualified appliance technician.

The parts ( # 1059756 @ repairclinic ) come in a kit as I alluded to and will look like what I attached below...

0fda4f0.jpg

These are available at most brick & mortar appliance part locations or on-line vendors such as "repairclinic.com" "searspartsdirect.com" to name a couple.

They range in price for around $20, or you can just purchase the rope/link seperately for about $4 part # 1159210 @ repairclinic.

I recommend replacing the entire kit and checking the spring itself, if it looks ok and not stretched or broke it is likely ok...they are seperate from the kit ( # 830967 door spring @ repairclinic as well )

Hope that helps move you forward. Thank you for visiting "fixya" today. Please take a moment and rate the solution provided here or a testimonial if you feel warranted.

Let me know if you require further assistance and good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Hi,
First of all, the unit will need to be re-leveled to stop the shifting of the unit when you close the door, remove the bottom access panel and adjust the two front legs to correct the door issue. Next that a OLD bar a soap and coat the nylon cable to the door, located on each side. Easiest way to do this is to put the soap on the rope, open and close the door a couple of times to coat the rope. This will work, or you can replace the link kit for the new version and this would not happen any more. Part number for the link kit is 8194001 Link Kit this part is designed to correct the noise problem.
Here is a video on how to change the link kit if you need it
I hope this helps, good luck

Door falls open

The side spring springs could have unhooked. Some springs connect to a nylon rope that slides over a plastic guide. The rope could also have snaped or slipped off the guide. You need to open the sides (normaly the back first) to check. This is easy to fix if you have the right tools...

Searched for a nylon rope guide for a Baumatic BDW 9 but was unable to locate one. I found that many of the components for the BDW 9 also fitted the BDW 10. So I searched for the rope guide for a BDW 10 and found the correct product. Problem solved!

one of the nylon rope which connects the door hinge to the door spring is broken.usually with time the rope wears out and break.it is preety easy fix. u have to pull the unit about half way out and look for ropes on lhs and rhs bottom of the unit.buy the rope kit(it comes with 2 ropes and plastic roller unit.). just see the one which is not broken and accordingly install the broken one.usually u dont have to install the new rolers unless they are broken.

there are two nylon ropes that hook the door hinges to the door springs on the left and right side of the dishwasher.usually with time of rope breaks and the door stars to fall down.to fix this pull the unit out and look for the broken rope on both sides of unit at the botom.the new ropes comes in a kit and are abt $15.00.it contains two ropes and new wheel assly.u dont realyy have 2 chge wheels unless they are broken.but chg both ropes.to get rid of that squeeky noise aplly some bearing grease on the rollers over which the rope slides.that will take care of it.
