Your only choice to get recovery discs now is to order them thru the HP/compaq website. They are not too expensive, and it is about the only ;thing you can do since someone already used your option on the display computer you bought.

Error 1005 is an HP restore error which means you need to install from a standard DVD from HP. You can order this from various websites on the internet. They are about $30-$45 plus shipping.

Here are recovery instructions for HP/Compaq laptops.

1. Reboot, and repeatedly press F10 at the HP logo until the recovery screen appears.
2. When the recovery screen appears, press "Next" and then "Yes" to perform a non-destructive recovery.
