I have no leads only the xerox scanner what do i need to buy

Hello.

I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners. When you say that you need the "leads" I assume that you mean calbes to connect the scanner to your computer. If that is the case, all you need a USB A/B cable and a compatible power supply.

If you no longer have your original power supply, or it is no longer functional, you may be able to find a comatible replace at your local electronics store. It needs to have an output specification of 12 Volts and support at least 1.25 amps.

Drivers for this model can be found here. Please be aware that this model is circa 2003, and drivers were not made for operating systems beyond Windows Vista. If you need help updating or reinstalling the drivers, have a look at this article.

Power lead required

You can use any 12-Volt DC power supply capable of sourcing at least 1A. This is probably the most common transformer voltage and most people have at least one lying unused around their home. If not, they are easy to find at thrift shops. Just read the label, which must indicate that the output is 12VDC, 1 Amp. Greater than 1 Amp is fine, less that 1 Amp will not do. The label should also indicate the polarity of the connectors, and this is shown with a drawing of a small circle within a larger one. On the type you want, the smaller circle indicates the center conductor of the connector, and will be associated with a "+" sign, and the outer circle a "-". The only other thing you need to check is that the connector is the right size. Here again, the one you need to fit the scanner is probably the most commonly used, and rather easy to recognize.
Here's a picture of a typical label. Note the output voltage and current rating is clearly indicated.

No power to unit with transformer plugged into working outlet

First check if ur transformer have power using digital tester if you have tester. Then if trnsformer have power, check the power supply adaptor if they have 12vdc outpot supply. This checking is to make ur that ur scanner is good.

Astra 20000U lost the power supply where to get replacement transformer?

if you can see the voltage and amp requirements either on the machine near where it would plug in or a manual then I have picked up the transformer at radio shack and they have a set of different ends to plug in on the DC side

I'm not sure if this is a transformer problem but my computer will just shut off on it's own then it takes forever to get it running again. We've tested the power supply and it is fine so I'm looking for...

When a computer shuts down and won't boot up straight away, then this is most likely a CPU overheating problem (ie thermal overlaod).
If this is not rectified then the CPU will eventually fail.
The fault could be a faulty CPU fan, or the heat and fan assembly is clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not it has a faulty bearing and needs to be replaced. If the fan os OK but the fan and heat-sink is clogged with dust then loosen the dust and vacuum the dust off these components.

HP 4070 Doesn't Power Up

Power requirement per HP specs is 12VDC @ 575mA 6.9w. My scanner and power supply shows 12 VDC @ 1250ma.Over double the power going in that required. No wonder the fuse blows and you have to buy a new scanner because you can't identify or get a replacement fuse. I would suggest you confront HP and have them supply you with a new scanner.
