My printer wouldnt accept my new cartridge (not a HP one but a recommended equivilant). We put the old one back in and it was still objecting it. We decided to remove the printer installation and re-install. This is now not working either as it keeps stalling. Are you able to advise please? Our printer is HP3920 - I couldnt find this on your product choice listing

This kind of error usually happens if you used a refill ink cartridge.

Please try to replace your ink cartridge with the original HP cartridge.

Understanding Potential Problems Printers are mechanical devices with lots of moving parts. And any time you have moving parts, you have something that can break or wear out over time.
So when you click the old print button and nothing happens, what are the likely causes?
First, you might have the wrong printer driver installed in Windows. You might have either simply selected the wrong driver for your printer, or Windows might have mistaken your printer for another model, or the driver selected might be out of date. While we're in this area, it's also possible that various aspects of your printer setup might be incorrect, which can cause some highly unusual problems. You should also check your font setup because fonts themselves can cause perplexing problems if they're not installed correctly.
In addition, any new input or output device you've installed since you installed your main printer could have changed your printer's settings. (It's kind of like the last device installed gets dibs on key system settings.) If you've recently added a scanner or a digital camera or fax software or anything like that and then experienced printer problems, try uninstalling your printer (and all printer drivers) and then reinstalling your printer so that your printer is now the last device installed—and thus controls key system settings.
It's also possible that if you're printing large or graphically complex documents, you might not have enough disk space or memory to print. Make sure that you have plenty of both, because Windows needs all the space it can get to complete the printing operation.
Finally, you could have real printer hardware problems. These problems range from the mundane (you're out of paper, you forgot to turn on the printer, a cable came loose) to the fairly serious (your printer is broken!). Check all your cables and connections and make sure that your printer is actually turned on.
The bottom line is there are a lot of things you need to check if you have printer problems, both hardware- and software-related. So if you have printing problems, hunker down and plow through the problems/solutions section, coming up next.

One cartridge which is new will not print

If the printer tries to print but there is no image then it is possible that the sealing tape on the cartridge has not been removed. If the printer does not even accept the cartridge then it is possible that you have a bad cartridge. Put your old cartridge in to confirm that printer is good. If this new cartridge was not an original HP cartridge then there is a pretty good chance that it is defective and the company you bought it from should replace it at no charge.

I have a C4240 All-In-One HP printer. I just put in a new black cartridge. The alignment page prints, however, when I scan it according to the direction, it fails. This has not happened before. I would...

This may be a long shot, however, have you tried to replace the old cartridge and see what happens?

Given that one may be out of ink, the printer may not accept "a call to print" as my hp printer, but I am thinking that either you may have a defective cartridge or otherwise somehow did not install the cartridge through the correct install method - meaning that if you manually slid the cartridge holder over to insert the new one, it may need to me manually moved back (typically hp has a button to depress to "call" the cartridge holder over towards the center to insert a new one...)

FINALLY -- if it is color - check the ink levels to be sure they have ink - my HP gets real finicky when the color cartridges are nearing empty...

Hello, just today my printer (HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One InkJet Printer) showed an error saying , "Cartridge Error: Cartridge in the left must be replaced. I put ink on both , just in case that was...

You need to decide upon a suitable replacement. HP recommends using their ink cartridges, but you can also choose to use a cartridge from a different brand. If you have a higher volume of prints, you may even consider refilling old cartridges to cut down on costs.

Remove the old cartridge by removing the main cover. The cartridge carriers will automatically move to the center. Press the top of the carriers to open the plastic lids covering the cartridges. Gently press down on the old cartridge and slide it out.

Install your new HP printer ink cartridge. Remove the blue protective strip from the contacts and place the cartridge in the carriers. Press down gently until the cartridge sits in its position. Replace the carrier lid and main printer cover. Restart the printer and take some test prints.

Printer won't accept refilled cartage

I had a similar problem and i cleaned the chip on the cartridges several times, eventually mine accepted them and started working. I turned the printer on and off several times and re inserted the cartridges before i got mine to work. This happened everytime i needed to change the ink unless i used a brand new HP ink.

Once I went to the shop and got some refilled cartridges and one of them wouldnt work at all. I presumed the old ones i had taken in would be refilled but apparently not. Anyway the shop replaced the faulty one free of charge.

After refilling my hp deskjet f4185 cart it gives error message why so

Try putting in a DIFFERENT cartridge first then back to the refilled one.

HP tried forcing one to install new by imbedding a serial number in the cartridge read by the printer. Once you temporarily change to a different serial number it will accept the old again.

Hp PSC 950 gives me a message to remove and check black cartridge

Did you remove the tape from the contacts of the new black cartridge? If so once the new one is in, unplug the printer from power and power it back on, it should do a full check after a power on off.

HP 7410 printer displays error ''remove and check colour cartridge

I think that spring must have gotten loose that holds the cartridge in place, right hand side, put it back where it belongs, might want to compare with the other, black cartridge side.  Good Luck!
