I am facing a problem in HP laserjet P1102. printer shows "Install Black Cartridge" when I have tried my best to resolve the issue. I am a technician and many printers come for this problem to me. I

#1-Remove the ink cartridge and use a q-tip and alcohol to clean the metallic portion of the cartridge. Gently slide the q-tip back and forth across the ink distribution openings, ink should cover the q-tip. dab dry with a paper towel and replace into the printer. #2-With the ink cartridge removed...Check the prongs on your printer that press against your ink cartridge when in place for connectivity. If covered with dry ink, use said q-tip and alcohol to clean. #3-replace the ink cartridge with a new one. Be careful, and gentle with your q-tip, rub easy, and let dry before proceeding. Be safe...and have plenty of paper towels on hand.....wear rubber gloves.....

Replace old car.with new ink car.still saying to change

Look inside the printer where you installed the cartridge. Clean the metal contacts on cartridge and the corresponding contacts in the printer. Do this with cue tips dipped in rubbing alcohol. Then reinsert cartridge and then turn off printer. Wait a few seconds and then turn it back on.

Brother mfc240c not detecting black ink cartridge. When I remove the cartridge and replace it with another it will not detect that the cartridge has been removed.

on the ink cartridge, midway between the two holes that plug into the printer, there's an opening. evidently, the printer senses ink level thru the little piece of plastic.

with printer OFF, take all ink cartridges out. cut small pieces of duct tape, small enough to cover the hole but not pass the catridge edge. use a small screwdriver or tip of a knife blade to work the edges of the tape into the slot, covering the little plastic window.

insert back into printer. worked for me. it's simpler than it sounds.

Can't find the ink cartridges inside printer

The bottom part of the control panel (with all the numbers) can be pulled up, just like the top one where you see a glass surface. You just need to pull it up, up to a certain point. You will see at the right side of it that there is a blue plastic to hold it in place so that the top cover won't fall. If the printer is plugged in and turned on, you should have no problems seeing the ink cartridges inside.

"WRONG CARTRIDGE" continues to flash on the screen.

I have experienced the "Wrong Cartridge" error about 4 times in four years. I have never bought a replacement print head. I do occasional printing each week. Typically the problem occurs after a color cartridge goes empty and the ink dried to the print head. The solution for me has been to remove the cartridges, remove the print head, place the print head in hot water in the kitchen sink (softens water based ink that has hardened)and then use a Q-Tip or tissue paper to clean the print head until it is nice and shiny. Reinstall the print head, insert ink cartridges that are not empty, let the printer cycle through a self-test, use the set button to accept vertical and horizontal print patterns and you'll be good to go!
If that doesn't fix it, you'll need to replace the printhead ($49-69 depending on where you buy it.

WTF is up with "White INK"?

Unplug the printer and wait for a few min then plug it back in...also take all of the cartridges out and make sure the electrical strip is clean and clear...Also check to see if your ink cartridge has any ink left...if it feels light then it is probably empty...look on ebay for ink refill kits...these will save you money and it is sooo easy to refill them

Hp psc 2410xi photosmart all-in-one printer.

Here's what I found when this happend on my two 7410's. Take a look at where the ink cartridge slides into it's holder. Shine a flashlight on the circuit board at the rear. You will no doubt find it has a puncture in it that breaks the little tracer wires on the board. The culpret is the tension spring arm. It likely has come off it's base support and when that happens, and you install a new cartridge, the cartridge will push the tip of the tension wire g right into the circuit board. After you fix the circuit board, apply some silicone glue to the spring base mount to hold it in place.

The printer tells me all the ink cartridges are empty and refuses to print. All the cartridges have ink and are inserted properly Tells me 2 cartridges are empty; after replacing those, it still says...

Hi Blackburn,

Get you some rubbing alcohol and Q-tips. Disconnect the power from the printer and remove the Ink Cartridges. Using the q-tips and soak them with the alcohol. Clean the electrical connections in each of the cartridge ports. You might go through several Q-tips before geting them cleaned up good. If necessary use Finger nail polish remover instead of Alcohol to get any contaminants off of the connections. Test a site with the fingernail polish remover first before dabbing it all over. I am afraid that it may eat up the electrical connections.
