Which game is that? Do you have an updated video driver or directx?
There are a lot of reasons why you are having this kind of problem and one of the ways in fixing this is through updating the drivers in your computer. Try using RadarSync so that you can get the correct drivers. You can go for the free version and if you want to go full blast, purchase the license.

This is a hard drive issue or windows have corrupt files, if you have the installation disc try and reload the operational system, if no change! have the hardware checked out at a computer repair store.

Press F8 during boot, and load Safe Mode. A program may be preventing a proper startup.
Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig > Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running.
This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when you initiate.
