You're using the wrong language/ go to control panel then go to languages regional and change everthing to your country or the original country of the laptop

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

On the Reczone Password Safe model 595 I am not able to type the symbols associated with the number keys even when I use the "shift" key. How do I type the symbols?

Have you tried the orange button?

I mean the same way as the shift key function? Because, they are built the same with qwety keyboard. The hint is the orange printed symbols. Same as blue printed "Fn" button on PCs.

I haven't used it but it worth a try.

Cannot use shift key + number for numbers 1 through 4 and 7 through nine.Cant make any symbols(at sign, exclamation sign).I tried reinstalling keyboard driver, choosing different language,so on and so...

Hi,

You might have a hardware issue with your laptop keyboard. You have at least 2 options:

1) connect a "normal" USB keyboard to your laptop and use it, instead

2) run the On-Screen Keyboard (osk.exe) and access the characters/keys you want from there

Good Luck!

Hi, I also had this problem on macbook air 2011, I tried everything but all failed. However, once I used up all its battery and left it like that for 2 days. After that, everything turned back to normal, the shift key worked normally again. Hope this will help you.

Cant print the symbol @ on my note book

Press SHIFT-2
if that isn't working , press and hold the ALT key, and type 64 on the numeric keypad then release the alt key.
If method 2 works, and method one doesn't, check your keyboard layout, and switch it back to US when you get the chance.
Also, see if the number 2 in the top row works at all...if not, the keyboard might be defective.

The keys are not synchronised properly. The @ key and the " are typing each others symbol. ie I have to press shift 2 to get the @ symbol and vice versa.

you are using a usa keyboard.
if you want to use the uk keyboard layout change the regional settings, go to languages and there is an option to change the keyboard.
uk keyboard will print " when pressing shift+2

Keyboard will not work

Try this and see if this works for you. Touch Keypad simulates a wireless phone keypad on the touch screen to allow you to enter text, numbers, and symbols just as if you were using a wireless phone keypad. Touch Keyboard simulates a 20-key QWERTY (typewriter) keyboard on the touch screen to allow you to enter text, numbers, and symbols similar to the way you would using a QWERTY keyboard. To use Touch Keypad or Touch Keyboard:  In a program, tap the Input Selector arrow, and then tap Touch Keypad or Touch Keyboard. To type lowercase letters, tap the keys on the dial pad or keyboard. To type a single uppercase letter, tap the Shift key and then tap the corresponding key. To type all uppercase letters, tap the Shift key twice. To change back to all lowercase letters, tap again. To enter a space after the word, tap the Space key. To start a new line, tap the Enter key. To backspace and delete a single character in any input mode, press the Back key. To open the Symbol pad, tap the Symbol key. To change the input mode:  Tap the Input mode key to switch to a different input mode: XT9 (predictive), Multitap (abc), or Numeric (123).
Let me know if this works for you, if not let me know.

Shift Keys not working properly on ACER notebook

The 8042 keyboard controller has been integrated into one chip with other I/O functions so I doubt you can replace it as a single IC and I'm afraid that is what has failed. It is an extremely rare failure but I guess it has to happen some time. The keyboard is kind of a polled matrix so it only takes the failure of a single line to bollix things up.
I think what you are talking about here is a motherboard exchange or repair.

I had the same problem. When I pressed shift and that comma key I got a " instead of a @.

I looked to see what on the leyboard you normally press to get a " and that's the number 2 key.

Tried pressing shift and the 2 key and hey presto, I got a @.

So it looks like @ and " have swapped places.

So shift and 2 for a @!
