Question about AEG MCD3534EM Stainless Steel 900 Watts Microwave Oven
I have an AEG Micromat Duo microwave. It is about 4 years old. It has been working well until about 6 months ago. Over this time I've had a problem when starting to cook food etc. Initially, when I set the microwave to run I see the display flickering and then the timer starts running wild. Normally decrementing so that if set to 3 minutes it will be done in 15 seconds. After a brief time of actual running, 30 to 60 seconds (I have to either keep increasing the time by turning the timer dial or start the cycle multiple times) this problem stops and the microwave behaves correctly. Also during the initial period even with the timer running wildly the food is being heated.
I initially thought it was the timer dial that had a bad contact but I used contact cleaner and checked the resistance and solder joints but all looks good.
I couldn't see any burnt components on the board either.
One odd behaviour which I think is accurate is when I tried the same test of powering the microwave from cold but without the lid fitted it didn't seem to show the problem. I tried it a couple of times but didn't want to do any more for safety reasons.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
SOURCE: Hi. I pressed the 'quickstart'
first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a
minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.
If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.
It may be a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.
