Hi,
yesterday a friend who also bought the FX401 told me that her friend
who owns a new iBook is jealous because the Vaio supports to span the
display to an external monitor (not mirrored!). She showed me the
settings in the driver options (for the ATI M1 accelerator) and has
already tried that feature with success. So it seems that it's wrong
what here is posted often. XP home _can_ support dual monitors! :-)
Now I have the problem if I should switch back to the bloated recovery
CD version of Windows XP or if I'll keep W2K when now I finally found
all the needed W2K drivers (a big THANKS goes to Brad :-)
Greetings from Cologne
Peter

Yes, windows XP home does support dual monitors.
I have been using this feature for about a year and a half, even with 2 different video cards - ATI radeon xpress 200 (on-board) and a NVIDIA geforce 4 mx 400, which is PCI. Not the best technology I know but it meets my needs.
With this setup I pipe movies and steaming video to the TV in the lounge room (with the geforce 4 mx 400) via svideo as well as having 2 monitors working at the same time (each having a different desktop displays).
The downside is it slows down system performance slightly.
I would recommended upgrading to XP as W2k is no longer supported by microsoft.
