2001 Chevy venture will not start. We had an inspection done yesterday, oil change & a power steering line replaced As well. Looks like they had moved the wiring harness & also taped it when this was completed. Van was driven home last night with no problems. Went to start it this am, some power to accs ( radio & clock) but when it started to engage starter, there was just a couple of clicks heard. Tried again, but nothing this time....no power at all. Assumed dead battery, so Rec'd a jump, started, it ran for about 7 minutes with security light pulsing in the message center. Turned key off & tried to restart, no power to anything. Jumped again, & this time both the security & battery light were showing up in the message center. Pulled the battery & taking it to have it tested. Could there be something else wrong though? ( reading about pass lock , fuses, starter solenoid???) Please help! Thank you!

SOURCE: chevy tahoe won't turnover, power

Next time it won't start turn headlights on and see if they dim when you turn key to start, if they dim its most likely starter, if they don't dim possible starter switch, Have you tried to start it in neutral position? Try that, if it starts in neutral than its park neutral switch, if not could be starter switch, Just make sure you chk. all fuses and any relays associated with ignition first.

SOURCE: 2003 Trailblazer- no power after key stuck in ignition

Sounds like an antitheft problem I would start with the antitheft system. Usually when you only have one key all keys have to be programmed together even the original. When you have more than one it is easy to program additional keys.

Power steering tank full but still turning hard. 2001 chevy venture. Any ideas

With engine running, steering turned hard right or left, can you see the fluid churn in the power steering reservoir? If not, maybe one of the power steering lines is blocked?

I just wanted to add, with some makes and models. With everything off, I remove the power steering belt. I take the return line loose from pump, aim into container, rotate the pulley by hand, see if any fluid comes out of return line? The return line should be low pressure, usually held to pump by hose clamp. The high pressure line has threaded fittings.

Besides an oil & filter change what preventive maintenance should be done on my 2002 nissan xterra with 115,000 miles

Things to have inspected..... Belts, air/cabin filters, pcv/evap/canister valves, brake/steering/trans/diff fluids, coolant, spark plugs (if not done around 90K)... I would check for any oil leaks or any seals that looks like they are corroding and may start to leak soon. Lastly, make sure the timing belt/chain has been replaced! If timing belts start to wear and snap, most likely you will have internal engine failure and damage..... If you can get through all this to make sure everything looks good, you will be in great shape... Then just keep up with it! Hope this helps.
