Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, your described condition indicates that the air from the freezer is not being drawn to the refrigerator area. Since as you posted, the fan works, try to determine if a draft of air could be felt where the fan blows down to the refrigerator section. If yes, then suspect the the freezer's temperature is not cold enough to extend to the refrigerator section. This may be brought about by a faulty thermostat. If no, then it would be likely that for some reason the air passage way is blocked and therefore the air from the freezer is prevented from going to the refrigerator section.

A way to test is to open the refrigerator door. Locate and press on the door switch. Inside light should turn off. Maintaining this position after a minute or so, the fan should kick in. Try to feel if their is a strong air flow, if none, then air path is block (or fan not working).

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information or for any updates on developments.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

If you have already checked the thermostat setting inside the fridge to make sure its not set to the warmest setting, then there really isnt anything anyone here can do without actually looking at the fridge, checking the refrigerant, checking the compressor, the evaporator, etc.
A qualified refrigeration technician can certainly troubleshoot it for ya.

Sounds to me like you have a bad defrost timer. As the freezer is working correctly, it is building ice on the evaporator. It sounds like it does not go into defrost, thus freezing up the evap coil, and stopping the evap from cooling the surrounding air. Hope this helps

Refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling during a heat wave

Good day,
Turning the thermostat to a warmer setting should not have caused the machine to quit cooling. Actually, the engineers give you far less leeway than you might think.
The controls are more in a class of fine tuning, otherwise people would be getting themselves into trouble. The manufacturers simply design the warm and cold parameters in a fairly narrow range.
The best setting is normal. When away, the machine will run far less simply because of no door openings. Opening a door lets in large amounts of air every time it's done, which is where your cost to run it exists.
Two things. One, if the temp in the kitchen exceeded 90 degrees for any length of time, you are operating it beyond it's design range, however two, it sounds as if the thermostat hung up, causing your issue. You may want to have it replaced, but it would be useless to call anyone when it's performing normally.
There is no test on thermostats other than by observing their action when the machine is not operating properly.

Kenmore refridge/freezer just stops working. I

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm
