Question about D-Link DI-634M Wireless Router (DI634M)

1 Answer

Connecting D-Link DI-634M to HughesNet HN9000

They are both 192.168.0.1. If I change the DI-634M to .0.2 and have it reboot, IE can't connect and I have to press the reset button (putting it back to 192.168.0.1). The HN9000 CAN'T be changed to .0.2 (according to the morons at HughesNet). All they would tell me was to disable DHCP on the wireless and to set the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 (which is the address for BOTH devices). Any ideas how to get the wireless to go through the HN9000 to the internet? When I was connected to WildBlue their router just WORKED when I plugged it into my DI-634M. I didn't have to change anything!

    I'm having the Same problem with the d-link DIR-625. I have the HN 9000 too. When I look at the IP list of the Hn 9000 it says last available ip address is 192.168.0.254. Would this make a difference? It would not let me connect to the internet though. I can see both computers on the network but niether pc will connect to the net. If I connect the desktop back to the hn9000 it works fine.

    Also where would I set the default GW on the router? If any one can walk me through this I would greatly appreciate it! I have been trying for almost a week!

I hate it when ISPs give you devices that dictate how your network has to be setup. They should just give you a modem which give a public IP to whatever connects to it.

For this to work you have to connect the cable from the hughes box to your router on one of the four regular jacks on the back NOT the internet/wan jack you would normally use.

Set the IP of the Dlink to 192.168.0.254
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default GW 192.168.0.1

This SHOULD allow the router to act like a switch. I have a linksys that has an option to make it function as an access point , which is what you need for this modem, but I dont see any option for the d link you have to do that.

Hughes have a knowledgebase which may be of some use to you.

My DI-634m Is not giving me an IP address

Are you trying to connect to the wireless network ?
If you are not getting the IP address then you might not be connected to the wireless network.
Make sure that you know all the correct wireless settings of the router.
If your network is secured then you have the correct network key.
If you are not sure about the wireless settings of the router then you will need to access the router set up.

Connecting D-Link DI-634M to HughesNet HN9000

Both units can not have the same Gateway IP.
Do this:
Hook your PC to the HN9000. Do an ipconfig /all
Write the IP info down.
Then open up the D-links set up page and set it to a static IP using the info you gathered from the HN9000. Select an IP in the range that the PC picked up. I usually use .100. Also, when you set it statically in the D-Link, make sure that you type in the Primary and Secondary DNS.
Once you set the D-Link statically , you should be able to browse the Net through the D-Link.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Wireless network has disappeared !

Hi,

If I understand your post/description:
1. You have both wired and wireless clients tied to the DLink DI-634M router;
2. The 1st PC is a desktop that uses Ethernet connections to the DLink and is currently working;
3. You have another (2nd) PC (a laptop?) that is connect by WiFi to the router. This is not working now;

I think that your issue may have to do with the Wireless networking of your 2nd PC, i.e. if you can access 192.168.0.1 (DLink DI-634M) from the 1st PC that is wired.

Should this be the case or the scenario is different, pls post back.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested or should you be in need of additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
