IT ATTEMPTS TO START, THE GAS VALVE OPENS BUT IGNITOR WILL NOT TURN RED HOT. IT WILL ATTEMPT 3 TIMES THEN LOCKOUT CODE. I HAVE 24 V TO THE IGNITION MODULE SO I PULLED IT OUT AND FOUND THE BOARD IS FRIED. WHAT I DID NOT SAY IS THAT AT FIRST I FOUND THAT THE IGNITER WAS BROKE SO I CHANGED IT THEN I STILL HAD NO GLOW AT IGNITER. I THINK WHEN THE IGNITER BROKE IT FRIED THE BOARD IN THE MODULE.I FOUND A REBUILT MODULE I AM GOING TO TRY IT AND I WILL POST RESULTS. JOE

Does it attempt to start (meaning, does gas valve open and ignitor turn red hot, and heator starts and then turns off) Then repeats the cycle and then after 3 attempts gives you an error code..

All appearances - No fuel to ignite!
evrything else looks good, proper gas pressure, proper volts at igniter, etc - it should ignite! If fuel present, heater should Fire!
make sure all valves are open.
Gas valve is ON
AND purge any air from gas line.
IMPORTANT ****. If you bled gas line, don't try to ignite for a few minutes. Allow gas to dissipate first, use a fan to help.

Oven starts and stops

The oven safety valve
(also called the gas valve) is the part that ensures that gas is not released until the igniter has reached the correct temperature needed to ignite the gas. While this part can fail, it is uncommon. If the hot surface igniter does not glow you should first verify that you have voltage to the circuit. This is a live voltage check and should be performed by a qualified person. If voltage is lost at the valve terminals then you should verify the continuity of the bi-metal in the valve using a multi-meter.

The oven burner igniter
commonly known as the hot surface igniter is used in modern gas oven burners to open the gas valve and to ignite the gas. As the igniter draws electric current it will heat to a high temperature and glow, as well as cause the bi-metal in the oven safety valve to warp and open the valve releasing the gas to be ignited. This sequence normally takes about a minute. Igniters come in both flat and round styles and are very fragile. If the burner does not light then you should check the igniter first. If the igniter does not glow at all, then check for power to the circuit. This is a live voltage check and should be performed by a qualified person. If power is present then the igniter may be open circuit and can be checked for continuity with a multi-meter. If the igniter is glowing, but the burner is not lighting, the igniter may be weak and still be at fault because it requires a certain amount of current draw to open the valve. This check requires the use of an amp meter and should be performed by a qualified person. If the igniter is defective then it must be replaced.

If oven igniter is not getting power what is the cause. Oven is plugged in. Broiler igniter works.

Tappan series 110 the igniter is glowing but it wont lite the oven

Is the gas turned on at the stop valve behind the range? Assuming the gas is on, the igniter can glow but not actually be working properly such that the control valve does not open or the valve may be failed. There are electrical measurements for the valve and igniter and related circuit that can be made if you have a clamp on amp meter and a volt meter.

Glow igniter shuts down when dryer calls for gas

The very noisy part is a little bit odd...

Usually the igniter glows, the flame sensor detects the glow and sends power to the valve coils, which open the gas valve. There are some differences in that setup depending on the brand, but that is basically it.

It could be that the igniter isn't glowing hot enough (doubtful) or that the flame sensor (the rectangle thing on the side of the burner tube) isn't working (also unlikely, but still possible) or that the gas coils aren't working. Gas coils are the most common problem to go wrong on gas dryers, but when they go, they usually work at first, and then start to fail.

Do you have a volt/ohm meter?

Flame will come on at first start then will run for a few mins then turn off then ignition will come on but gas will not turn on

cool you recognize the fact that the igniter is turning on you are obvisouly tech savy so I will dispense with the usual amenities and give you a technicians answere.. igniter gets power and when it reaches max current opens gas valve as time goes on igniter still glows red but doesn,t generate enough current to open gas valve change the igniter first (cheap) if it doesent work check your gas pressure ( need a guy with a special meter) if pressure is too high ( not very common) valve has trouble over comming pressure to open if pressure is ok then time to change out main gas valve Good Luck

you may have to reset your board.turn all power off to the unit then turn it back on.if this doesn,t do it make sure you have a good complete circuit from board through element then back to ground.

Gas will not stay ignited

could be dirty heater you have to clean the runners and the smole nozzles that are in the manifold below the gas valve it's like a 9/16 size you pull them off and check make sure they are clear through, sometimes little spiderwebs build up inside them. if it's all clean, then it could be you flame rectifier/ aka: flame sensing rod, that tells the htr that there is fire so it keeps running. Let me know what happened.
