Question about Levelone CP TECHNOLOGIES LEVELONE WIRELESS-G WNC-0304USB 802.11G USB ADAPTER W/WI-FI DETECTOR (Retail) 802.11g/b

I am trying to set up my Levelone WBR-6001.

This is about the WBR-6001 wireless N router-when I run the ''quick installation guide'' i am told that there is no router in the system, yet i have internet explorer open in the background! when I use the cd to set this up, I type in the IP address that came with the instructions and for 30+ efforts i get the cannot find page screen.
i have hit the manual reset, i have rebooted my computer as it stated after i made sure that the ip setting is correct. I really dont want to throw this thing out the window so if there are any suggestions it would be much appreciated

I.P Setting you are referencing... is it for the router, computer, or both? many times you have to set the i.p. manually on the adaptor in the p.c. to match 1 or 2 digits higher or lower than the router, unplug everything else and configure. then set pc i.p. address to auto and reset router and disable then enable adaptor to gain auto address. Also be sure UPNP is on

My WBR-1310 doesn't do wireless to my laptop.

theres a couple of version of this router http://www.dlink.com/products/default.aspx?pid=WBR-1310&tab=3 I'm using the manual from here http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=WBR-1310&rev=WBR-1310
on a working PC download and install this program http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php this will detect all the wireless signals being broadcast - see if the router is actually broadcasting - if it is detected on your PC then it may be that 1) the firewall is blocking access or 2) the security code is entered wrong - -log into the router and remove the wireless security and see if you can now detect

Do i need to install the d-link wbr-1310 to my new laptop to get it operational. it indicates that there is a wireless connection but is requesting additional information.

I think you have windows vista on your computer. When you try to connect to the wireless network it will ask you for additional log on information. I believe you wireless network is secured. You don't need to install the router on your wireless laptop. All you need to do is connect to the wireless network. First check the wireless settings of the router. Once you get the wireless settings on the router, add the wireless network manually.

I have installed wbr-1310 to main puter but cannot install on lap

Make sure the wireless capabilities are turned on on your router.
On your computer scan for available networks and it should detect the router.
Once detected it will ask you for the Passkey/WEP/Secutity Key.
You should have a note of this when you originally set up your wireless connection.
If not then your computer network set up wizard may 'kick in' and just follow the instruction.
Remember to keep a note of your PASSKey/WEP as you will require it in future

Good luck
