Restart the computer and press F8 until you see start up options. Select "Disable automatic Restart on System Failure", and then post what happens when you try and boot it up again.

Keeps going blank when trying to find anything

Possibility:
Video card or on-board video issues. LAPTOP: A back light.
Memory issues, virus issues... Many more things that could be wrong.
Try F8 from a system start up - Keep tapping F8 till you see: Start in safe mode - with networking if you wish to navigate the internet while in safe-mode. If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode then your computer is most likely infected or needs driver updates or correct device drivers. If you computer is a laptop and the issue continues in safe mode - then find a dark place with as little light as possible and see if you can see your laptop screen then. Back light are fairly cheap - Part and replaced for about $150 US.. Have a great day.

I have a Lenovo U350 ideapad. When i rebooted it, it keep coming up Windows Error Recovery. I tried all the options (Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with command Prompt, Last known good...

Welcome to Fixya

Looks like the Windows OS is already messed up. You should be able to boot the computer to safe mode to troubleshoot the issue. In your case, it is not booting up to safe mode then the only way to use your computer again is to restore it from the factory default state. If you want to do that, just turn off the computer then press the ONE KEY button located beside the power button then follow the on screen instructions.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Dell Inspiron 1525 start up problem

This may be the result of a bad patch from Microsoft or other program. If you are using system recovery then you can try to restore back to before this occurred.
Please hit F8 when the computer is starting up to go into safe mode then use system restore. The other solution would be to go to safe mode then alter your start up programs . This is a bit more confusing but you can go to start run then type msconfig. You must be VERY careful when modifying this as it can cause more issues.
Hope this helps

Power the PC down then power it up. As soon as the power comes on, Keep pushing F8 until you get a start menu. Safe mode will be one of the options.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 and when I turn it on, I see the Dell logo come up and it says resuming windows and then the screen just goes blank. when I press the Home button, the media center comes up...

Try starting the computer in safe mode

Press F5 every few seconds when you startup the computer.

That should take you into windows. Once you're in, just restart the computer and you should be able to get back in.

Let me know what happens.

Dell PC has major virus/malware infection or is just dying

You need to update your antivirus. Definitely your system has viruses that made your system to boot slow and preventing you from opening your folders. I recommend you to use updated full version antiviruses like avg 8 or avast. They automatically update. They surely remove viruses from your system and your computer be protected. If you cannot successfully download antiviruses from your PC, then use other computer if you want a hassle free from repairing or installing a fresh copy of OS or shall i say starting from scratch again.

Best regards

Windows xp home edition computer will not start

If the system cannot start on safe mode probably your operating system has gone bad, to check your hard disk you can go use your windows xp disk, to boot from it press f12 choose cd rom keep on tapping enter and dont mind the message that you need to press any key to boot from cd, and then when you are on the welcome to setup page press r for recovery console, once you are there try to type in chkdsk /p and after type in fixboot and press y, and restart your system, if that wont work then your hard drive is bad.
