Marginal hard drive, hard drive cable, or hard drive controller (on motherboard).

Other suspect parts may be the CD ROM drive you're trying to run the OS install from. It may also be flaky, causing you to think you're loading the OS, but not really and not reporting errors until you discover the OS is not completely installed.

First thing to do is pull the HDD and cable out, reseat firmly and try again. May as well do the same for the CD/DVD drive.

I need to re-install Windows XP Home Edition

Contact Averatec and order recovery media, if they are still available.
If you cannot get a Windows XP OS to install, you can always try Linux. The Ubuntu distribution, and most other ones are free.

Wen i installed sp2 for xp , my system turned to be in grey color & font size wer so big, i can't even change the resolution settings... previously i had sp1 installed wer i had no problem i dont...

You have to check your motherboard or video card model, then search for the driver from their official website for windows xp home edition compatible. You can update sp3 before or after installing the driver of your video card! That is the reason why you ca not change the settings on your resolution because the windows xp home edition sp2 are probably no available driver for your video card. Have a nice day!

I have an old Panasonic NV-GS150 camcorder which I am attempting to connect to my computer. The camcorder is not recognised however, the computer stating it is unable to download the drivers for it simply...

Panasonic maintains literature, help, manuals and drivers directly from their web site, here. The driver posted for download is for Windows XP Home Edition w/ Service Pack 2.

You should attempt to install it (assuming a Windows OS) and see if it works. If not, you can try running in "Windows XP compatibility mode" - if your version of Windows provides this support.

I hope this helps! Please take a moment to rate my reply - thanks!

* Intel Pentium-class processor * Windows XP Professional or Home Edition with SP1 or SP2, or Tablet PC Edition; Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 (SP2) * 128 MB of RAM * 90 MB of available hard-disk space for the full version * 800 x 600 monitor resolution * Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later

Unable to Expand a Folder from my XP CD that I NEED!

Have you tried to copy the compressed folder from the disc to your computer desktop and open it there? Give that a try and see if it works.... I have had this happen to a couple customers at work and I just copied the folder from the disc onto the desktop, opened it there and re-installed it. Or you could also try a repair install of the OS but it does carry the possibility of losing your data and programs.
