I have the same GPS system!

I haven't had any problems with it yet but the second I got it I updated the software.

I know it's obvious, but have you already tried using the webupdater?

When you're performing the reset are you just pressing the reset button on the back of the unit? How long are you pressing it?

The manual says to hold down the reset button for several seconds, if yours doesn't have a reset button it says to slide the power key to the left for 8 seconds.

805 series problem - cant re-start it.

Hello,

Try performing a reset on the Nuvi.
A soft reset is done with the Nuvi on battery power, slide the power switch to the left and hold it there for at least 10 seconds.
A hard reset will reset the Nuvi back to factory defaults. Before performing the hard reset, all user information should be backed up.
The hard reset is done with the Nuvi off, press and hold the bottom right corner of the screen and turn the Nuvi on while doing so. A prompt will appear asking if you want to clear the user data.

Also run the Garmin WebUpdater to load or reload the latest software as this will usually fix any issues.

You may also want to contact Garmin Support for assistance.

Just bought the nuvi 1300 and tried to download the North American Update. It chokes downloading the new software, and apparently the other one is erased. i called customer support, but was on hold for...

I don't have a Nuvi 1300, only a 200 and a 215. You may want to try loading only the Continental US map. Not the whole Northern Hemisphere. It maybe that your Nuvi 1300 doesn't have enough memory to contain the entire map.
I did the same thing with my Nuvi 200 when I first got it. Was ready to drop it onto the pavement from my third floor balcony!!! Went out and bought a second Nuvi that same day, and did the same thing to it too. I was livid all weekend long.
By Monday morning I finally got with someone there at Garmin who walked me thru the process and explained that the Nuvi can't hold that much info at once. Only part of the maps.

Nuvi 750 wont turn on even when i hold the on button for a minute or more

Looks like the in-built rechargable battery is fully discharged. Try charging it for good amount of time like more than an hour through Car or computer charger. Keep the unit off to maximize charging.

My Garmin nuvi 260 is only 6 months old and it can

First make sure you have the latest software in it.
If it does try a Master Reset.
Lastly, unless you're in a strange location with poor reception. Take it back. Or, it's still under warranty.

Note: A master reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore your unit to the default factory settings.
  1. Start with the unit OFF and unplugged from power
  2. Touch and hold the lower right corner of the screen with an index finger or the eraser end of a pencil
  3. Continue touching and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen then power the unit ON
  4. Release the power button when the device powers ON

Please ensure that the device is receiving a charge while it is connected to the vehicle power cable. If the battery is receiving power from the vehicle power cable then the battery icon (located next to the time) would disappear from the Main Menu.

If the unit does not power on while attached to the vehicle power cable please follow steps from below to perform a soft reset:
  1. Connect the device to an external power source1
  2. Slide and hold the power key to the on position for 15 seconds
The device should power on. Notes:
  1. Preferably the vehicle power cable or a USB cable from a computer
  2. Some of the older Nuvi 200 series will have a reset button on the bottom of the device. It can be found on the bottom of the device on the same sticker that the serial number is printed on.
