The CPX doesn't have Wireless capabilities, unless you get a USB Wireless adapter. For now, use the Yellow Network lead to connect it to your router or modem, and then purchase a USB Wi-Fi adapter if you want to move it around more.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

This laptop does not have ethernet or wireless capabilities. You can't connect this to a wireless network.
You would need to buy a PC extension card and use it from the extension connector slot.

I purchased a Dell PRO3S notebook and the previous owner had used a wireless connection. The port on the side for possible a network card is empty. I am trying to set up a direct connection to the internet...

Go to my computer > properties > hardware tab > device manager
Do you have any yellow question marks in here if so if one is over network controller you need to download the driver for your Ethernet card off of dell's website.

The RJ45 ethernet cable looks very much like a fat telephone chord. It plugs into the female port.

I don't get paid for advice so if this answers your problem, I would appreciate 4 thumbs.

Dell latitude cp laptop how do you make it wireless for the internet

All laptops have inbuilt wireless network cards. You would need to have a wireless access point which has internet connectivity at your home or office. If available, you need to search for the wireless network and get connected. Some networks are secured so you would have to contact the administrator for the key.

Connecting a cpi to the internet ?

1) You can use a PCMCIA card (for example a Dell Fast Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX by 3Com) with a 'dongle' to connect to the ethernet cable via an existing card slot on the left side.

2) You can get a docking station set-up (i.e. Latitude 'C/Dock') which comes with the ethernet cable connection. ...pretty affordable used on the 'net.

3) If you has a wireless router you could hook a wireless USB adapter tp connect wireless to yout router.
