I only used this printer a couple of times and i got and error saying, "Service Required. Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life". I read a couple of articles and i downloaded SCC UTILITY but when i click "Show counter value" the program says "Some error occured"...
When i install the SCC UTILITY it can minimize, after 1 use it cannot minimize anymore, it says "Access violation at address 00424D5F in module 'scc_serv.exe Read of address 00000028'"
Please note: i used this exact program to reset my EPSON STYLUS R220 PRINTER and it worked PERFECTLY.

A Service Error where you get a message telling you that "Parts inside
your printer at the end of their service life, contact your dealer for
replacement", or "Parts inside your printer require maintenance or
replacement, call your service company", is normally a Maintenance
Request Error. The maintenance request error is actually a Waste Ink Ink
Pad Error and usually your remedy is:
1. Replace the Waste Ink Pad/Pads with a new one/ones (many people ignore this one, and they just follow #2) 2) Reset the Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter by using SSC Utility
This is a very common problem and is basically your printer reaching a point where an internal counter has tripped. The primary reason for this is the printer has guesstimated that the waste pads are now full and need changing.
Resolving it is pretty simple...
You can either take it to a service centre (assuming they'll be able to service one as old as the R220) and get them to handle it for you.
Do some searching on the subject of fitting an external waste ink tank. You'll also need to reset the waste ink counter which can be handled using the A10_IPR utility that Epson released for North American customers some time back.
For more information on your specific printer along with instructions on how to fit an external waste ink tank this link should help.
Try to unplug the device directly from the socket wall and leave it for 5min. Plug in again. If message still occour it could be related to 2 reasons.
1. Sensor problem leading to "ghost" message -- require eng.
2. Toner replacement also causes this message.
Even if you do couple of boot routines you might want to have someone onsite to have a look at it. It might require parts.
It says that your inkpad inside the printer has to be changed. You may see the error in your pinters status monitor quoting "An internal part of your printer is aged. Service maintenane is required." An cost effective way to solve this problem is download SSC service utility and clear the service required error.
