I have a carrier 38ycc030340 that keeps blowing the airhandler 5 amp fuse

Hello, check the tstat wiring from the air handler to the outside unit and check for any wires that are loose or possibly touching metal, also, make sure the wires are connected securely at the air handler, tstat, and outdoor unit.

My Mitsubhishi Mr. Slim MSZ-A17NA 1 is drippping water on the inside. I have turned it off for now. What should I do? We're in Mississippi and it is a hot day! thanks

Hi!!

Make sure the unit is leveled, there is a drain hose coming from rigt side of the unit goes through the wall to the outside and down, this hose is probably clogged up.

Go outside the house and look for it. there should be some tubing wrapped in insulation going up to the roof top and a drain hose coming down. You can try to unplugged it from the inside using a wire clothes hanger or you can blow air from the outside end into the unit, you only need a small blow and you can use a flexible funnel or a piece of garden hose and some tape to do it. if you are going to do this make sure to drain all water from unit using a towel to avoit splashing. This works all the time.

Don"t forget to rate this post. Good Luck!

Can I install the unit in the window sideways?

Not really unless you can divertthe hot air from the back side to the outside and and the cool air and intake to the inside, you could do it with some clear tape and some plastic sheeting , but better to build a frame to hold it outside facing in two L brackets then tape it up with some thick plastic.

Somethings aperson cant fix without a service tech. First it could be wire burnt of capacitor going to compressor. Second it could be bad capacitor. There is a dual capacitor on the ouside unit one side says herm that runs the compressor. Turn power off to check to see if wire is burnt of the herm terminal or the C ternminal. Wire burnt off compressor common terminal.. Could be locked up compressor. Unless you know how to troubleshoot unit. You may have to call service tech. Cost if bad cap. is about 100 to 150. But unit wont run without it. Rus

Trying to install a fan motor for my outside ac unit replacement motor has 5 wires on it. my old on had only 3 driving me nuts

Your old moter had three wires. Common High and brown for capacitor. This one sounds like a two speed. Dont worry Now you have two brown wires for you capacitor instead of one. Tape off brown wire with white strip. Connect other brown to cap. You should have a white or yellow for common wire and black for high. Tape of the other extra wire and wire in like the three wire. That wire is to your thermostat which of course turns the A/C on/off. One thing you can do is to splice the wire back together w/ small wire nuts (available at hardware store or wal-mart, and just hook it up color to color and then tape w/ electrical tape. Make sure you turn your breaker off and turn off the thermostat control.

Window Air Conditioner Sweats

You need to seal the portion of the air conditioner that is inside the window from the portion that is outside the window, Sweating is caused by moist outside air leaking in and contacting the cold portion of the air conditioner. Do not use duct tape, buy aluminum tape which is what professionals use to seal air leaks on ducts. Home Depot sells the tape. Buy the smallest quantity you can find that will do the job ( it can be expensive ) unless you plan to go into air conditioning duct installation.

For best results use some form of insulation over the accordian like side baffles ( cut to fit) . Styrafoam from packaging or silver backed insulboard (Home Depot). Now tape the sides of the insulation to all sides of the window frame, bottom of the window, the sill, and the air conditioner.

Unless you enjoy doing this every year - plan on this being a permanent installation. It is a tedious job because the aluminum tape is not very forgiving and has a peel off backing but it sticks forever.
