Hello,I was an installer for sears and had over 27,000 installations under my belt! I am extreemly familiar with theese machines and I can tell you this : Your absolutely correct that the lights do trip on when you cross the beam ,this was a new feature started around 8 years ago on the liftmaster brand that makes also the craftman line and the home depot speacial the chamberlain line , all theese machines are identical in internal parts and remotes and keypads that will work on any of theese machines ,now do the light on the machine work from the wall pad ? and do you have the premium console with the light function? do the infrared sensors work when you cross it,s path when the door is coming down? if all that is still working properly then the sensors are working and sending the correct signal to the mother board ,your problem would be safe to say is in the board and they are easy to replace but rather expensive around 79 dollars ,so my sugestion is that the feature is nice when your outside talking to your neibor and come in thru the garage where the lights are probably off already and can have lights come on as soon as you enter ,But with more new idea,s being built into theese machines theirs room for more failure so the bottom line is if you can live with it then it won,t cost you ,if you like the feature and can,t live without it and for safety then order the part by taking the model # off the board and google craftman logic board and try and find yourself a decent deal on one that you can replace just by removing 4 screws onthe corners and a 16 pin plastic connector that just plugs into it counterpart wired to the machine , it,s simple and it takes me 5 minutes ,maybe a first timer 10 minutes ,but i have to admit that i use power tools that zip the screws out in seconds ,Well i hope you choose which option is best for you and I Thank you for your question ,if you feel i was of help to you please leave a good rating Sincerely Glenn Mayer

My craftsman garage door opener is beeping (2 hours). How can I stop it

Our garage door opener has a safety beam across the floor which prevents the door from closing on objects which are sitting there. This safety feature also makes an annoying beeping sound each time the beam is crossed. This tutorial will show you how to disable the beep, but still keep beam functional. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cn_vGe_7_x4

How to get my garage door to open all the way?

Three blinking lights & door won't close by Candi
(Winston-Salem, NC)
Garage door will not open and close with remotes. Three blinking lights occur when we try to close door. What does this mean? It is a Linear unit.

I will assume you mean that your garage door will open with your remote but will not close. It should close if you press and hold the wall control button until the door is fully closed.

If that is the case, the 3 blinking lights indicate that your garage door's infrared safety beams are not properly aligned.

1) Check that the operator has power. The green lights on the sender and receiver should be lit.

2) If the receiver's green light is on, but the red light is off, the receiver has power but is not detecting the infrared beam from the sender. The red light might flash when the beam is partially detected. This can be caused by
mis-alignment or something blocking the beam.

Adjust the safety beam sender and receiver while watching the receiver's red light (stay out of the beam while aligning it). When the red light stays on, the beam is aligned and your garage door should operate normally.

http://www.linearcorp.com/pdf/manuals/LCO75.pdf

NOTE: If the receiver's red light remains off, check for:

1) Dirt on the receiver's lens,

2) Sunlight shining into the receiver's lens,

3) A short in the safety beam wiring (from staples or at the operator terminals).

Garage door remote only opens door. It will not close

It is likely that the safety mechanism is being triggered. It thinks there is an obstruction. If there is no beam of light running across the front, it may be cheaper and easier to replace the operator than to service it.
If there IS a beam, make sure it us not obstructed and that it hss not been knocked out of position.

Chamberlain garage door will not close

If your garage door will not close from the open position and reverses immediately or part way down there is a safety beam problem, usually there is a safety light on the opener which will flash when the safety beam is activated or faulty. Clean the photo beams with a clean damp cloth, check if the door now operates, if it does not, check that the safety beams have not become misaligned, there is normally a light on one of the sensors that indicates when they are correctly aligned, if the light is on it means they are not aligned, the light off indicates they are aligned. If they are not aligned try adjusting them, if this does not work they are probably faulty.

My garage door will open just fine, but when I try to close it the light blinks 3-5 times and then I have to press to button and hold it until the door closes completely. what can be the issue?

Check the obstruction sensors and for anything blocking the doorway. If both sensors do not have the appropriate lights on, adjust them to get the beam across the doorway to the opposite sensor. (My units have amber and green lights on different sides. Both lights must be on.)

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(we often get the sensors out of alignment when someone walks too close to the rail of the door. Weeds and bright sunshine can also interrupt the light beam.)

Garage Door Opener Light does not come on when it is supposed to

Great call Marty! I had noticed the amber LED above the learn button was blinking with one pulse, which the troubleshooting guide noted as being a problem with the sensors. Finding that one tiny paragraph in the manual and following the instructions of holding the wall-control light button in for 10 seconds reprogrammed it and the functionality is returned. Thanks!

Door Remote

check to see if anything is blocking the beam that tells it something is in the way of the door closing. If there is nothing crossing the beam, make sure the beams are lined up properly. The four blinks are a safety feature so that you do not close the door on anyone or anything. Had the same problem myself once.
