Incline has error message for a free spirit MD treedmill

Incline has error message for a free spiritmd treedmill. It tells me to bypass the problem by hitting the stop button. That only allows me to get the thing moving forward but not up and down.

I have Sole F85 and it had the same error message. I opened the motor housing , cleaned the dust, performed calibration procedure, and the problem seemed gone.

SOURCE: Treadmill powers off when pressing Incline Increase "br 1" error

You may have a beltand deck problem. Test by the following procedure:
without the poweron stand on the walking belt, push the belt in the, direction it normally turns. If the belt is very difficult to turn (on most treadmill this means that you have high belt/deck friction I first apply silicone lubricant between the belt & deck to see if that clears up the problem. Most problems originate from the belt and deck 75 to 85% of the time

SOURCE: Machine shuts off when i press incline up. Belt and board look ok

THis sounds like a controller board problem. In many of the treadmills I have seen the same board controls the drive motor and the incline motor. If this product is under warranty have the company covering the warranty check it out. Anytime you buy one of these machines buy the extenced warranty. I was a field service tech for a warranty company. When you call in with a problem make it sound severe.. I have replace almost everything in one except the frame just to make a customer happy. I am not sure of the error message but i seem to remember it being associated with the controller.

I have a Spirit XT285 treadmill and it says it is at a zero percent incline but it is definitely not flat. I ran the calibration and it is still not level. I used a level to check and the bubble is not...

I have the same machine, and I have a feeling that it has a natural 1% incline which is supposed to simulate the difference with no wind resistance.

When you turn on treadmill the incline goes all the way up and all the way down. Does nothing else.

First we need to do a calibration follow this procedure
Press the Stop and the Speed Up keys down while inserting the safety key.
Press the Stop key one time. The Time window should read EP:2P. Some newer models may also say FP, Pass, or the like. This means that it passes the EPROM test.
Press either incline key and the incline will calibrate automatically.
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE IF THIS STEP IS SKIPPED. After completing calibration of incline, press the Stop key and then remove the safety key.
If the incline moves but you it will not operate normally nor calibrate, check the wiring from the incline sensor to the power board. If all looks normal, put it back in calibration and see if you see a blinking “- -” symbol in the incline window when you are calibrating. If not, the incline sensor is bad Call icon Fitness @ 800-999-3756, they may have the sensor or they tell you, you need to replace the incline motor
