Sometimes ISPs (Internet Service Providers) upgrade information on their end to improve or alter something about their network. When this happens, routers have outdated information from the modem. You might want to try power cycling the modem and router. To do this, unplug the power from both the router and modem. After about 15-30 seconds, plug the modem back in. Wait for all of the lights to come on excluding the "PC Activity" light if it exists. Once the modem is registered with your ISP, plug your router back in and test your net speed using a site such as:

http://www.speedtest.net

If your service is back to normal, then you're all set. If it isn't, you may want to contact your ISP as there could be something wrong with the route traffic is taking from the node to your residence.

We need this router manual. It is very slow

Hello. What is the exact model of your router? If you have internet connection speed problem with your wireless try with the following steps,
  • Reset the wireless router by using the power switch on it or by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
  • Place the wireless router in an ideal location. The higher it is, the better, but don't put it near metal objects.
  • Get as close as possible to the router with whatever device you're trying to connect.
  • Keep the router and your connecting device away from other electronics. You should especially keep away from phones, fax machines and microwaves. etc.,
  • Adjust the Wifi antenna if it has one.
  • Change the router's channel, especially if other wireless routers are nearby.
Following these steps would give you stable internet connection and also increased speed in connection. You can check your internet speed from ScanmySpeed.com before and after following these steps.

Slow upload

Usually uploading speed will be slow in any type of connection. It is default.Uploading speed will be 1/4 fourth of downloading speed. So uploading speed won't increase more than that.If you fee your internet uploading speed is very slow,it is because of internet traffic.Try using internet in non traffic time. Also try to avoid many downloads at same. You can use latest browser for browsing. To check internet speed visit the site Scanmyspeed.com

My connection is HSDPA 7.2Mbps but downloading speed is very slow (20Kbps). plz help me

Hello,
HSDPA 7.2Mbps is the "nominal" download speed of your cell provided internet, however if your signal strength is not good or you are located in an area where the tower is bandwidth saturated, your connection speed will reflect that. Try locating the modem near a window or if possible, get an external antenna for it. This pay help, but will not give you exactly 7.2Mbps. Try as many locations as you can until you get the best result.

Range on the wifi

Need more info, but it could be a number of things. Many thing affect your wireless speed:

-Walls
-Distance
-Other wireless devices, or devices that emit radiation (Microwaves, cordless phones, baby monitors and etc.)

Other things could be:
-your computer is just plain slow
-there are too many people connected to the wireless at the same time
-your internet connection is slow either in general, or just temporarily

More advanced (and unlikely) reasons:
-your network adapter has been forced to operate at a slower speed
-your router is set to operate at a slower speed in its configurations

Problems with internet

The first step is to determine if it's your computer being slow on the downloads, or is it the router being slow.

The best way to rule out your computer is not the problem is to get some friend who has a laptop to connect to your internet at your house.

If their laptop gets on the internet just fine and plays videos, then the problem is in your computer. If you are not computer savy, then I'd suggest taking it to your local computer store and have them check it out. (some do the check for free)

If they have the same problem with the internet connection then it's probably the router:

The actiontec GT704WG is a router normally provided from the Internet Service Provider (ISP). Contact your ISP and tell them that you internet is slow and that you would like for them to reset your configuration on your router. They either will do it themselves, or walk you through performing the steps.

Fast Page Loads Slow Downloads

it really depends on how far you are from your Router. The farther you go, the weaker the signal gets resulting in slower speeds. Slower speeds will not affect web page load times (they are tiny parts of data) but will definately affect download speeds. You need to be as close to the router as possible or get perfect range. You can put the router at higher elevation in the room to get a better range to start with. Let me know if this works for you.
