hi my philips gogear 4gb vibe wont download pictures off my computer. but when my daughter plugs up her new ipod, it downloads them. can you please tell me why this is and how i caqn get pictures on mine? thanks
You will need to go to www.usasupport.philips.com to get the manual and software that you need. Be forewarned - this player is completely obsolete - the music service tied to it was discontinued in Oct. 2007 - if you have plugged it into a computer that is running Windows Vista or has Windows Media Player 11 installed, it is already ruined.
Run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager - it is your only hope. If a message comes up saying, "Failed to Repair Device," then this player is done. This is a legacy mp3 player that is ruined by connecting it to a computer that is running either Windows Vista or Windows Media Player 11. It was tied to a MusicMatch Jukebox service that was cancelled in October 2007. Philips is no longer issuing firmware upgrades for this player, and a firmware upgrade will not resolve your issue. Sorry.
This player is ruined by plugging it into a computer that runs either Windows Media Player 11 or Windows Vista. But, it was also manufactured in 2005, so the battery has been degrading over several years. Call Philips and see if you are still in-warranty - they don't have any more of these to give you, but they will exchange it for a newer model IF you saved your receipt.
The player is not defective. The older Philips players recognized DRM-encrypted WMA's - the newer Philips players do not.
You have to get Rhapsody's Mp3 only service - I repeat, MP3 ONLY. No other level of Rhapsody service will work with the newer Philips' GoGear's - which is funny, b/c Philips co-branded with Rhapsody on the newer players. Rhapsody's Mp3 Only is not the only choice you have - but the key is only to transfer songs that are in mp3 or NONPROTECTED WMA format (non-protected wma's are not purchased songs, but songs ripped in the right way from CD).
Call Philips. If it was purchased in the last year AND you have your receipt, you may be able to get it exchanged for a different model. These players are officially obsolete - it can be ruined just by plugging it into a computer running either Windows Media Player 11 or Vista.
Sorry to here that, however if you dont manage to fix it would you be interested in selling your mains charger/ linked to the usb lead as my daughters rabbit bit through mine and I cannot purchase a replacment one.
