Question about Yamaha HTR-5830 Receiver

1 Answer

Yamaha HTR-5830 Video shut down.

I have a Yamaha Receiver, HTR-5830. It works fine till I try to watch a DVD. At no set interval, the receiver will shut down the video, the sound still comes through. I turn the receiver off then back on, and the video is back, but then it will cycle through this again. I have tried to discover the trigger for this, but nothing is consistently causing this. It did start doing this with my X-Box too, but not all the time like its doing with the DVD player. Ideas? Its not heat.

You have having a problem with the video amp clipping the signal after it get hot. You have one way to try to temporarily solve this problem. Try putting more air flow over your receiver and cooling down the temperature inside the receiver and see if the video amplifier starts working correctly. If it does then you must put a fan on it somewhere that will keep the air flowing so the video amplifier is not allow to overheat. If this does not solve the problem, then you will need to have the amplifier replaced for it to work correctly. If the unit is under warranty then call this number 1-800-492-6242 to locate a service center in your area. Call them for help with your problem. You can also try looking on the www.yamaha.com website. Put in you model number and check in the frequently asked questions and troubleshooting sections for people who have had similar problems with this unit and see if they printed a solution for the problem. I hope this helps you with your problem.

Yamaha HTR-5830 does not work with Sony PS3 optical cable connection. There is no sound at all. Do I need an HDMI cable. Right now I only have component cables which work fine with the red and white...

Make sure you have the "audio input mode" on "Auto" it's a small button on the front of the Yamaha. Then go into the PS3's Audio setup and make sure it's set to Digital. Hope this helps

I am trying to hook up my Yamaha Universal Dock YDS-11 for my iPod touch into my Yamaha HTR 5830 Amp but there is not where to plug it into. Do I need another type of cables to do this.

Hi, I'm afraid that your receiver doesn't support YDS-11. You can check it at yamaha site. This dock uses special cable and special connector on the receiver (which yours doesn't have).
So the only way to connect your iPod to receiver is via analog audio output (jack connector on the iPod).

Yamaha 5.1 says Check SP Cable and shuts down - has been fine.

It has nothing to do with the input you choose. A speaker wire is shorted. Disconnect each one in turn and try it. The last one disconnected before it stops failing is the one.

Yamaha HTR5830 shuts down when any front panel button is pushed

You are having a component failure problem in the switching circuit. This unit should be taken in for service. Since it is going into the protection mode on any switch operation the failure is serious and needs to be repaired before it causes more damage to the receiver. You can call this number to find a Yamaha service center near you. 1-800-492-6242. You can also go to the www.yamaha.com website. go to the support section and put in the model number of your receiver and check out the frequently asked questions and troubleshooting sections to see if someone else has had this problem and had a repair solution printed. I hope this helps you with your problem
