Dell inspiron 1300 stalls at blue welcome page?

When i started it up it looks like it's working fine then it just stalls at blue startup page when it says welcome and i cant do anything from there. I ran the express test and it didn't say anything was wrong? Do i need to reboot the computer? I've had this laptop for a while now and i don't know where the reboot disc is anymore. Where could i purchase one that would work?

Recently ,when I insert a cd containing data computer acknowledges it as audio not data and cannot open it.  From then on have relied on memory sticks for storing data.

More recently computer starts up but does not log on to desktop stage.  Ctrl Alt Delete suggests I am logged on when in actual fact I am not....Only blues screen is visible.

I am now solely dependent on desktop.

If you've already booted then Last Known Configuration in Safe Mode will not work..(hit F8 upon starting)..go into safe mode (F8)..click start>accessories>system tools>system restore. It will restore your computer to a date prior to problems...this is not the only option for this particular situation so if that does not work let us know..

Will it boot up and run in safe mode?

It could be a hardware failure. Bad Hard drive maybe. You will have to go to the manufacturers website to get the reinstall disk. A.K.A Recovery Disk. You will have to pay. And they will send it in the mail to you. Good luck.

My dell inspiron freezes on the welcome page

While there are a number of possible solutions which may or may not work depending on several factors, the easiest to try is to boot to safe mode and run a system restore.

To boot to safe mode:
When you start the system, as soon as the blue dell logo goes away, tap the f8 button. This should get you to a menu from which you can choose "safe mode". It will show a bunch of writing on the screen and should eventually bring you to the login page, login as administrator.

Run system restore:
This varies depending on which version of windows you are running. In XP it is start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.

Other things you can try:
Login as a different user.
Use start>run>msconfig from safe mode to disable startup items which may be causing the problem.
Consider removing recently installed software which may have caused the problem.
Scan for viruses, malware, spyware, ect.
Run diagnostics on the system by pressing f12 on the dell logo and chosing diagnostics.
The worst case scenario to fix a problem like this is reinstalling windows.

Evreytime i startup my dell inspiron 1300, it takes at least 15 minutes to start

You probably have a lot of programs starting in the startup. Try to change the settings so that they don't start in the startup. Also try un-installing programs you no longer need. Hope that helps.

try this...

turn on the laptop,,,
keep pressing F8
a menu screen will appear,, select SAFE MODE using the cursor keys and hit enter,,
once it boots in safe mode click no to use system restore..
follow the onscreen instructions to send it back to a date when it did work,,
it will shut it self down and restart in a propper manner..

if that fails,,

when u turn on the laptop it displays a menu,, it shows to press a certin key to enter system recovery,, press that key,,
follow the onscreen instructions to restor the laptop to factory condition..

Dell dvd not working

First thing you need to check is whether the issue happens only if you are logged in to Windows or not. For you to check if it also happens outside of Windows, insert the Windows Operating System disk (XP or Vista) then shutdown the computer. Turn it back on. As soon as you see the Dell Logo, keep on pressing F12. Then select "CD/DVD ROM" from the choices and press enter. When you see the prompt "Press any key to boot from the CD", keep on tapping the "Enter" key. If your CD/DVD drive is working fine, you should see a page that'd say "Windows is loading files". If not then the system is not detecting your drive. Then check the BIOS page. F2 on the Dell Logo. Then look for Drive Configuration. If the drive isn't there, reseat it. Physically remove the drive from the computer and put it back in. Then restart.

Please rate this if it helped.

Screen goes blank soon after switching on

Try "Safe Mode" (holding F8 key on boot and selecting "Save Mode"), then run diagnostics and an up to date (virus definitions) Anti-Virus full scan.
If Safe Mode is not accessible then you may want to consider a format and clean install by booting to your Windows (?) CD.
