This can be one of three things
1) the fuse on back of CD player could be blown
2) you need to push and hold the src/pwr button till unit powers on
as long as the yellow and red wire are attached to the positive battery wire you are good if the ground is to the battery ground and you try the first two steps i said and nothing happens........
3) ground the black wire from back of the CD player to any metal surface on the golf cart than try the first two steps again
it should power on if this is the case
hope i was able to help you

Maybe you have an Ezgo cart? Black is negative, white is positive, and the small red wire is connected to the white inside the charger receptacle.

Golf Cart Wiring

James can you trace the wires back to the source? Sometimes there are 12v accessories such as a fan or radio on those that would require you to hook up the wires on the positive and negative from two connected batteries to get a 12v output. So in your video, all you would have to do is move the small black wire to the negative of one the batteries connected to the one with the yellow bungie. The red wire should be okay where it is. Trace the wires back if you can, but hopefully this helps. Good luck, sir.

I have 3 power wires on my Jensen MCD5080 marine am/fm/cd, a +12dc switched (acc)red wire , dimmer orange wire and a +12v dc battery (constant batteryemory yellow wire) do i hook them all to the same power...

The yellow wire (constant) is for functions such as clocks, retaining fm stations, etc. The red wire (DC power) is what runs the unit. You said this is going on a golf cart right? But you say you don't want switches and don't want it to drain the battery during storage. Well, you can't have the best of both worlds. If you don't like the visual of a switch in the open, at least put one close to the battery under the seat. That way you can switch it off in storage. The switch would go to the red wire. You might even think about switching the orange wire if you expect to keep it in long term storage. the dimmer wire usually hooks to interior light controls. Like when you turn your lights on to drive at night, the radio won't be so bright inside, but in the day time, it will be. This is not a necessity. Happy wiring

I want to switch the power on my car cd player away from the starter, so that i have to turn it on and off myself, rather than when i turn the key. how??

Surely you mean that your cd player is connected to the accessory power and not the starter. If you want your cd player to receive constant power then locate the accessory power wire of the cd player(the one that receives power when the key is on) and connect it to a FUSED constant power source(battery). Usually, if it's a three wire hookup it will be yellow, red and black. Yellow (constant power), red (switched power) and black is ground. If this is the hook up then the red needs constant power. If it's a two wire hook up, red (switched) and black(ground), then the red needs constant power.

How do i wire a switch on a golf cart from a radio to the battery?

If you have the radio installed you can just use a single circuit on/off switch to the red wire from the radio that when switched to ON will bridge the gap and give it power. Meaning you would run the red wire just like the yellow constant to a 12V+ source only there would be your switch to open the circuit which would turn the radio off.

any details on how the cart is powered/wired now would help if you are having anymore trouble.

Radio installation in a golf cart

Each battery is 6 volts. You would have to connect to the 1st Battery 12 volts posiltive {+} side and the 3rd battery negative side[-]. Run the positive lead thru an inline 10 amp fuse , then to the radio.
