Question about Jenn-Air JCD2389G Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

My jenn air side by side has water puddling in the bottom of the freezer section. I turn off the water supply going to the icemaker etc. still puddles. Is their a condensation line that could be clogged and not draining from the freezer side other than the water suppy?

you are the man! I folowed these instructions an dproblem solved in just a few minutes . I did have to poke a coat hanger wire down the drain after the first cup of hot water to break up the deeper ice (ever so gently) and before you know it the gurgle sound of a drain emptying was heard. Thaks you saved me a $75 service call

Sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

Jenn-Air refrig/freezer w/auto ice maker. A large puddle of water on floor under unit. Turned off ice maker. Seems that was the problem. What is the fix?

Do you have a filter in your water line? there is a plastic hose in the icemaker that hardwater will corrode. the icemaker needs to be removed for repair, when the feeder tube should also be inspected

Ice builds up on floor of freezer apparently some leaking as my lamented floor is showing some damage. i have cut off water supply to icemaker and water tap thinking this was problem.

most likely you have a plugged and frozen defrost drain. check behind the bottom basket of your freezer section to confirm this you will find alot of ice build up. to repair you self:
  • unplug refrig.
  • unload freezer section
  • remove rear access cover (on jenn-air's there are 2 screws about mid way up they are painted white and arent very obvious).
  • clear all ice
  • flush drain hole with warm water. ( i use a turkey baster filled with hot water to get best results)
  • reassemble unit
  • reapply power
this should stop your water leak. thanks Peyton

Y jenn air side by side has water puddling out front left side, not under, I would also tie it ot the deforst cycle, maybe a clogged line, still cold, there is also some water underneath the lowest freezer...

There is a drain under the rear part of the freezer, see if you can see if it is blocked it may be fully of ice in the tube under it, if so turn off and pour hot water on it till the water drains out, put towels in the bottom of the freezer to collect this water, may take some time to get it cleared.

Water on floor under unit & ice bottom of freezer

By going online, saw several posts re this problem. In short, the water drain was clogged and there was also a problem with the defrost timer. Service man blew out the drain line with compressed air and installed a new timer. Voila! Problem fixed. Interestingly, the serviceman found a wad of what looked like putty, but was sticky like gum in the drain area. He said he had never encountered anything similar.

Water collects and freezes in bottom of Kenmore freezer of side-by-side freezer/refrigerator

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking down the vent instead of the drain hole...If you need any further assistance please feel free to comment again. good luck! P.s Please don't forget to rate my solution thanks!

Jenn air side by side leaking water

to allow your fridge/freezer to be ice free a timed defrost phase apxx every 7 to 10 hrs occurres whe the ice is drefrosted the water shoud go via a collection tray to the top af the compressor to keep it cool the tray is situated at the bottom of the freezer side behind the panel youll find is probally blocked and the water is overflowing to the front instead of going the correct way if you tecn minded unplugh the appliance remuve the pabel and unblock the drain tray the panel is inside the freezer torward the bottom

Icemaker is not freezing ice, freezer not freezing food,

The ice maker won't work if the freezer is warmer than 17 degrees so that's not an issue till you get the freezer cold again. I would guess that your unit is stuck in the defrost cycle. This could be the defrost timer failing. See if you can find the defrost timer in your unit and advance it by hand if possible. http://www.partselect.com/PartSearchResults.aspx?modelnum=jcd2295hes&mfgmodelnum=&fkmfgid=1&hint=defrost
