Need to replace drain valve

How do I replace the drain valve on a 15 gal craftsman air compressor? Seems like the large nut is welded to the body.

The "welded nut" is the pipe fitting into which the drain valve or drain plug is screwed. It's usually brass and the valve or plug can be obtained through Sears or possibly and good harwarde store. Be sure to use pipe sealing compound or teflon tape on the threads when you re-install the valve or plug.

NOTE - THE AIR MUST BE DRAINED FROM THE TANK BEFORE REMOVING THE VALVE OR PLUG. ALSO, POWER SHOULD BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE COMPRESSOR!

Compressor was airing up to pressure when it sounded like it blew out a pop off valve or diaphram. Now it sounds like it has a large leak and does not build up pressure at all.

Turn on the compressor and look for the air leak. It could be a relief valve or a connecting hose or tube. You must locate the leak then see if it is a part that can be replaced.

My Craftsman air compressor has wored fine till now. It does not want to build up pressure beyond 50 psi.yes I did check the drain valve and no leaks. Motor seems to be putting out the rpm's and the oil...

Check for a leak between you compressor head (pump) and your tank. Your pump output may be good but as your tank pressure gets higher the leak will not allow the tank to build up.

Compressor keeps blowing release valve

Compressor pressure switch not working properly. Remove cover over pressure switch. Drain air out of tank. pressure switch contacts should open. If contacts do not open they may be stuck or welded close. Remove power and gently pry contacts apart. If they where welded together this will correct. If this doesn't correct replace pressure switch

The compresor is not building up the pressure, it only reaches like 15 PSI .. and is not the drain valve

check the regulator valve. the black cap must be pulled out slightly to allow it to turn. adjust that while watching gauge for change. there is also another pressure release near the pump be sure it is seated fully.

25 gal horizontal craftsman air compressor is leaking at the pressure control valve. Can I replace the valve or repair it?

Unloader valve probably needs to be adjusted. Should be two jam nuts holding the unloader to the pressure switch. Loosen the jam nuts and adjust the unloader slightly away from the lever. Tighten the jam nuts and try it again.

Air pressure gauge does not move on Craftsman 1Hp, 12 Gal. Air Co

I would say that the gauge needs to be replaced. These are common items so go to any auto parts or craftsman hardware store and purchase a replacement.

be sure to use some joint compound or teflon tape on the threads so u dont have any leaks.
