http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn¶m=1015001R This is a link to all of the drivers you need. You will need to reboot with Windows XP CD and install a fresh copy of Windows. Be sure to backup any files you want to keep, and you may want to download the driver files first in case the network card does not work (no driver), if you don't have another computer to download the files later.

After PC format, you now need to put all the required pc drivers like modem driver, sound driver, LAN driver, WAN Driver, Camera Driver and other driver software. Maybe you miss this software. Check your device manager if you pc is not reading the sound card hardware because you have not install the sound card driver to activate the sound card.

Sound card for dell inspiron 1750 on Windows XP

Download sisandra free which gives you every detail about whats on your pc including the soundcard name and lots more then go to driverguide.com register free and get your driver. If you downgraded from vista to xp then you need to uninstall the windows "HD uaa bus driver", a long story but easy to do.This removes the driver permenently locked to the soundcard which wont work in xp but if uninstalled allows a normal driver for your card to work so eg:ac97 sound card, download the xp version as you have downgraded and if you go back to vista the operating system will reinstall the HD driver.Simple if you know.

Installing a sound card on my pc

Are you certain you have no audio device in the PC? Have you checked the Bios to see if onboard sound is available?

In case there is a device, but it is not working, maybe this can help:

Where did you download the drivers to?

XP-SP2 hangs on boot after installation

I think maybe better uninstalling driver, but leave card in and boot system and let windows find the card(hardware) first instead of wot sounds like windows looking for driver and freezing in the boot up process as it will look for a connection to internet for an update or driver. Normally any usb periferals should be connected after driver installation, but any pci or agp cards inserted first, then driver.
