Question about Compaq Hewlett Packard 6910p Notebook

Open Question

Looking for Matshita UJDA775 Firmware

I was only able to find an update on IBM's site, but it won't work for my drive since I'm using an HP.

I believe the current version if 1.70

Already checked HP's site but nothing was listed.

I'm having a problem with the drive recognising certain brands of blank media.

I'm currently ranked # 3 on this site and the reason is because when I give solutions I know what I'm talking about.

Your solution is based heavily on just your own personal opinions about a companies drives. NO the problem isn't because the drive is defective in any shape or form. It's the blank media that is causing the issue. 5 out of the 6 different brands I tried worked flawlessly. Why would I replace the drive if it's working? Besides giving advice to end users to just go out and purchase another drive doesn't make any sense at all. Laptop drives are not universal. You can just buy another one and expect it to fit correctly into the laptop.

While I appreciate your "solution" next time you answer a person's question take some time to diagnose the problem and ask a few questions yourself before jumping to conclusions.

It's common no matter what the brand is.

    Things to try:

    Clean the laser
Reseat the drive into the system.
    Reinstall software drivers
    Update the drive firmware
    Update the laptop firmware
    Check DMA Settings
    Modify the registry
    try another drive

If none of the above works, THEN I would suggest a new drive.

My dvd/cdrw drive wont work . . it had been matshita ujda775

If it is not working, go to the device manager. If you can see it among the devices, try troubleshooting it from there.
If the troubleshooting options do not work, then you would have to uninstall the drive, restart the pc, then re install it using the add device option in the control panel.

Hope that helped?

you can purchase any external DVD drive with USB connection and it will work with your computer. You do not need to purchase any particular type of drive.

Laptop will not recognize matshita BD-cmb uj-120 usb device (USB SLim External Blu-ray rewritable drive). Need toshiba dvd firmware update. Unable to locate update.

Go to Toshiba web site search your model ... look for firmware update.

Uncertain/cant find it ...

... get it done professionally. If you dont do it exactly right, you will end up with a new door stop.

Office Depot, Staples, others do this at a reasonable price (considering the alternatives).

Trying to upgrade H/D on IBM T43 laptop, get 2010 error on

Error code 2010 is definitely hard drive problem.

Did you get the firmware from the site below?
Link to hardware maintenance manual for reference:
Here's the fix straight from the maintenance manual:
If in the primary bay the customer is using a non-IBM or non-Lenovo hard disk drive (HDD), or an old generation IBM HDD which is not supported by this system, with the risk in mind, the customer can still use it by pressing ESC. If in the primary drive bay the customer is using a supported IBM/Lenovo HDD with an old firmware, the customer needs to update its firmware to the latest. The latest version is available at support

Hi. I have a toshiba equium l20-198 laptop dvd burning problems

there could be 4 things that's wrong that I can think of.

1. try this first, go and force xp to take your updated drivers by telling it to install from a specific location->don't search. I will choose the driver to install->have disk->have disk->point it to the driver's location-> continue and it should install that specific driver.
2. the software you're using to burn with isn't playing nicely with your drive. try using cdburnerxp which is a free burning software and test the results of those burns.
3. the firmware on your drive is corrupted(happens from time to time). try installing a new firmware from matshita's website. remember, firmware is different from drivers.
4. the dvd drive itself is busted. try using an external drive to burn a dvd(if you have one available) or switch the drive out and see if that fixes things.

after looking at some forums, seems like this drive is ripe with issues but hopefully it's not a hardware issue in your case.

hope that helps.

Drive cant write any disc

If the unit was working ok and suddenly the unit stop to read the blank disk, the problem could be related to a dirty lector (need to clean) or unit firmware (need to be updated)
In that case you can update your firmware here:

1) You have to use a blank "recordable disk" to allow your drive write a disk
2) Not all disks are compatible
3) Try differents brand
4) Clean your drive lector
5) Update your firmware
