I purchased 4 * 2gb ram for my pc and it just will not accept it, I mean I install it correctly but when you switch it on,, the blue light just flashes off and on, i tried resetting the bios, changed over memory to different slots, nothing.. please help
The spec for this model shows "4GB DDR3 memory" without mentioning the pin/speed specs. There are two types of ddr3 rams. one is 204 pin 1066 bus and others are 240 pin 1333 or more. By the config it has, i guess, it should be 1st kind of ram which is not what you would get if you ask for usual ddr3 ram. You can compare both ram side by side to see if the older one has less connectors. if so, you have to buy proper ram.
eg, here is an example link for that 204pin ddr3 i was talking about

i had same problem with mine, i have the acer aspire ast180-ud360a, dont put the same memory next to each other, u have to stagger it, so it looks like
------------> [1gb] [512mb] [1gb] [512mb] <--- correct setup
and not like
------------> [1gb][1gb][512mb][512mb] <--- incorrect setup

Check the Acer web site and make sure U are putting in the correct type of DDR2 ram. Even though they are called DDR2, there are different types, i.e. 5300, 5600, etc.

hello!
You can buy 2- 512 mb DDR2 memory. It should be the same spec with the two current memory.
Memory should be the same specs and capacity, you insert it to your slot 4-1GIG to maximize, in your setting i recommend another 2-512mb bcoz your current memory is 512 mb capacity.
Not advisable to insert diferent capacity or diferent brand memory bcoz it cause damage to the mainboard and memory also.
Up to 4 GB of DDR2 533/667/800 MHz SDRAM (dual-channel support on four DIMMs)
in your case, you can add more 2-512mb memory, DDR 2 refer to your current memory about about this number. 533/667/800 and follow.

I've read up on the 661GX-M7 by looking at the manual at http://eudownload.ecs.com.tw/dlfileecs/manual/mb/eng/p4/661GX-M7.pdf all it does is agree with what you've done. It should be able to handle 2GB of DDR400 without a Bios update and Kingston's definitely one of the best to go with. All I can think is that it's not the RAM. If you're alright inside a PC case try breaking it down to a bear minimum, so just graphics card, memory and processor and see if it acts ok like that. If it's not then one of those things is setting it off and you might have a dodgy stick or you might have handled the memory too much. If it's ok, then plug one thing in at a time and retry until you find the culprit.
SOURCE: Incorrect RAM reported on BIOS
4GB RAM requires a 64 bit compatible processor AND Operating System to be able to access
addresses in memory that exceed the 32 bit assress space.
I'm not familiar with the motherboard that you are using but simply expanding RAM isn't enough if your
system isn't 64 bit compliant. Assuming it is, then ensure that you are using a 64 bit version of Windows 7 opposed to a 32 bit release candidate.
