Compaq C700 laptop keeps powering off , wont power up with power cord plugged in. I charged the battery in another c700 and was able to get the power cord to light up when plugged in but then it just shut down again..
So does that mean that i just put the recovery discs in that i had to make when i bought it? I tried to run a bios check on it the last time it was on and it shut off around 30%..i havent had a chance to go charge the battery and try again.... I have the same problem. When the battery is removed, the blue charge light around the DC socket goes out and the laptop will not even turn on, yet I know the charger is good as I have tested it in another laptop.
Currently trying to solve the problem, I will post back if I find out how to fix it, but I suspect it's a motherboard problem :( I have the same problem. Did ur laptop works or turn on when u plug the adaptor charger?
If ur laptop turns on when the charger is pluged in, u got problem with ur DYiNG BATTERY!
Better buy a brand new battery!
U may have a dead board. They average $285 plus labor. A shop should be able to test it on a volt meter see if the power grid is burnt for around $35. then u will know what ur in for. If its a bad board just replace the laptop I wouldnt repair that problem on an older laptop.
sounds like either the d/c conveter has died or the battery has died / nicad batteries do reverse voltage and cant be charged any longer, How old is the Battery? if its any older the 3yrs , you may need a new one!
Is the power cord/brick *firmly* plugged in in all places? Sometimes, the cord from the brick comes out slightly, breaking the power connection. If your battery is old/no longer holding a charge, the machine wouldn't start again. Also, if above is ok, remove the battery, plug the power back in. Does machine start now? If it does - replace battery.
u can take care of ur laptop by conceedaring below points like.....
1. always use a good and updated antivirus.
2. avoid with shokes means carry with care.
3. important for battery ........
full cahrge the battery and after complete discharge charge again . never keep ur battery pluged with power cable . it will increase the battery life and backup....
