Ok, try this. Take the battery out and plug the AC adapter into an outlet that you know works.

Check the green light on the AC adapter. If green light is on,

Check the AC cable between the wart and the Laptop.

Check to see if is snug.

Check to see if there are any frays. Next

Check to see if the power plug on the Laptop is loose or lint inside the the plug.

Use a tooth pick to try and move the plug inside the Laptop (remember, battery should be removed) If its solid, Then

Think back, did you smell a burnt circuit? Did you let your Laptop sit on a fluffy surface like your bed? If you did this, your burnt out your CPU.

Did you loan it to some one? Spilled a drink on it?

Let me know it that helped.

Won't power on with AC. Bat Died. Why?

This is more than likely caused by the DC jack in the laptop breaking free from the motherboard or bad solder connections under the plug. the only solution is to dismantle the laptop down to the motherboard level to address the issue.

Hi, I really need some help. I want to know whats wrong before taking my hp pavllion dv600 to service centre. Problem is that the charger doesn?t charge the battery at all. Charger is fine with other...

If the power supply does not run the laptop without the battery, then the problem is the jack in the laptop, over time the plug breaks free of the motherboard causing intermittent operation or no power. If the power supply runs the laptop without the battery, it is the charging circuits on the motherboard that is the issue.

Computer just died.. no lights whatsoever. power

Take out the battery and try to start from the charger - if it's the same then you had a major hardware failure , most likely your motherboard has died. You need to take it to a repair shop for a precise diagnose and repair.

My toshiba laptop will not show "charging" when it is connected to the wall and computer. I am unbale to turn it on becasue of battery dying. i have tried different outlets etc... no luck. has anyone heard...

The cause of this is likely either that your power supply-cable is broken, or that the power input-socket on the laptop motherboard is. Usually this occurs if one trips over the cable. You should firstly use a volt meter to check if the first is the case. If not, it's the latter problem which is a harder nut to crack. If you're lucky that it's not the motherboard itself, but only the soldering, and you are skilled with a soldering-iron, you might try to open the laptop and fix it yourself. If it's the motherboard, I'm afraid that you're out of luck, and some money to buy a new laptop.

HP Pavillion 6000 battery issues

Hi Steve, If you haven't gotten any batteries to work properly at all and the problems are different each time, I would say the motherboard is shorting out the batteries and causing weird problems. One last thing to try if possible..

Try a known good working battery, if that battery doesn't work then its verified that the motherboard is bad. If the known good working battery works in that laptop then you got a bad batch and it will be a battery problem.

Since your laptop turns on with the ac adaptor means that the ac adaptor is good.

You can try reseating the memory and the hard drive if you can get to it, but it sure sounds as though the motherboard is shot.
You can take it to your local computer repair shop.
Good Luck.

Can't power up Acer TravelMate6292-301G16Mn.

Motherboard. Find a local repair shop or someone on craigslist who will diagnose it for free. Wait while they do it. It should only take 5 minutes for them to confirm that it's a motherboard problem.

Lap top - intermittent power

Sound like a similar problem I have/had...
Mine started but always died after a period of time, and the timeframe varied. I was not sure at first that it wasn´t a heat problem, because CPU temp reports constant of 75deg celcius.
I removed the battery and at first it would not start (same as usually after it died) but after a few attempt it booted fine (also as usual). I have tried to start the laptop with the battery in place to repeat the problem but it didn´t. Battery was still not charging so I removed it again and PC is running fine since. God Luck

The power light is on, but the monitor is off

its the motherboard. If you laptop powers on for a few seconds then dies, it is the motherboard/systemboard.
