The most common concern with rear projection TV's that have pictures that are not clear is that the lenses and mirror needs to be cleaned. Most manufactures allow access to this area, lenses&mirror, from the front of the TV by removing the screen ***'y. That is the easiest way but not always the most obvious.

If the the brand is Phillips/Magnavox the problem will more than likely be contamination of the CRT's fluid,Ethylene Glycol, in which will have to replaced.

If not clear meaning the colors are seperated then the TV will be experienceing a convergence problem.

Good Luck.

You might remove the light engine and make certain the lens are clean and not cracked or broken.
I have read several articles referring to this problem. I would defiantly investigate before purchasing a new bulb or engine.
Let me know.

It can be one of the mirrors in the light tunnel that is out of place.

If you have like a shadow that cover part of the screen and colors are dim it can be one of the mirrors that cover the internal surface of light tunnel that had fallen out of place.

If instead you have a net line with no color, that can be a fault regarding the three-chip D-ILA (Digital Image Light Amplifier) system that is used on this model.

This TV does not have CRTs, it has an high-pressure mercury lamp.

That D-ILA is an LCD panel that regulates intensity of light and colors, and that is faulty, otherqise is the light tunnel, but light tunnel gives you a kind of shadow. I think it is the D-ILA system gone.

The faulty parts can be the D-ila screen that cost about $300, the D-Ila cables, that can cause failing from part of the screen, or the chips on Ila control circuit located on digital board.

Blue light and lamp light flashing, no picture.

Look in the owners manual for the directions on how to remove the lamp. Your model the lamp goes in from the front on the left looking at the TV. There is a thumb screw in the back on the corner holding the left front speaker on. Under the panel there is another thumb screw holding the lamp door on. You will need a Phillips screw driver to remove the lamp. You will most likely find that the lamp is bad. You will either have to order a lamp directly from JVC, a service center or a parts distributor.

You both will need to have a service center come out to try to reset the TV using the reset jig. A JVC authorized service center will be the only ones that will have access to and training to use this jig. It is a good chance reseting it fix the color problem but it could also be something more serious.
