The machine works but there is no hammer action taking place. I need to know therefore, what might the problem be and what can I do to resolve this issue.

SOURCE: Hilti TE 12. It will not hammer.
the rotory cam has been broken inside if not producing the hammer effect
SOURCE: I have a hilti TE
The hammering action is caused by air cushion between driver piston and striker piston.
A lack of lubrication will cause this or too much grease has entered cylinder or hammer is stored with nose of hammer up. To much, or little grease, or old dirty grease will cause poor hammering action because the striker piston cannot move all the way to front of cylinder (when you slam tool against the work, you are actually forcing the striker closer to the bit). Clean both pistons and apply fresh grease, also make sure orings on these pistons are in good order. If you think that the grease is ok, then try storing the hammer with nose down and bit removed so that the striker will creep down when still hot and be in the right position for next use /cold start. Good luck
could be quite a few things. e.g. stuck ram worn o rings and seals. I would suggest calling Hilti direct at 1-800-879-8000 for a service center nearest you. These are not the most user friendly tools to repair. It can be done but trust me it is a pain.

Mine does the same thing sometimes. Especially when it sits up for a while. What I've done, and it's worked every time, is bang it straight down on a block of wood a couple times nice a hard, then it works perfect. That pneumatic piston in there might just be hung up or something. Give it a shot.
