Clnic,

I'm not clear what you are looking for here. Windows 98 will run just fine as a stand-alone system, without a modem. If you do desire to install a modem, what you get will be more a function of the motherboard and what it will accept. Chances are, any PCI modem will fit a system that is running Win98, but I don't know that with certainty without more information from you. The challenge you may run into is finding one with drivers for that operating system, since it is 11 years old.

I have the icon for internet and have modom so i can't get on the internet

Just having the icon of internet and the modem wont get you internet. Do you have an internet connection and is the system and the modem configured for that connection? Is the telephone line attached to the modem and is the modem attached to the computer?then only the internet would work.

Windows Vista CDMA 1X usb modem not working

I faced the same problem i installed it. But got through it. See if this works for you too:

1. You have to install the software you downloaded from the tata site or from the CD you got with the MODEM. Do this without attaching the MODEM to the laptop.

2. Once done, insert the MODEM into the USB drive. The Windows will automatically search drivers for USB MODEM and QualCoMM drivers and install it.

After it shows the success message, click the Tata Indicom Dialer and check. The problem should not appear again.

Are you sure it's a modem and not an Ethernet port? The port looks like you can plug a telephone line in, except the port is bigger. If you try plugging in a telephone line in and it won't click into place, then what you got is an Ethernet port.
