If you reinstall windows using System Recovery Disk then you do not need to worry about anything, it will bring your computer back to the factory settings. However, if you use Windows DVD to reinstall the system then you need to install all the drivers manually. If your drivers are missing then download it form your manufacturers website.
Well you have formatted the system, so you need to install the Wi-Fi driver in order to access the Wi-Fi.
ou must be having the driver CD, If you dot have just download the wi-fi driver from internet and install it on your Laptop and re-start the laptop and you will be able to access the Wi-Fi again.

This is very common problem for the new computers, they can not be retro-fitted to XP for the drivers were not designed for XP, only vista.
I would strongly suggest putting the computer back to Vista, and then the hardware that was installed on that computer will work its best. Since Service Pack 1 has been released for Vista most of Vista's 1st problems have been solved.
