GAGGENAU Refrigerator IK300-254/21 - Service manual.

I have a Gaggenau refrigerator/freezer model IK300-254/21 and I am looking for the service manual in order to restore the PC board original parameter settings, which have been tempered with by previous owner.

Alternatively a list of the setting values for parameter nos. 0 to 82 with index discribing their function will also be helpful.

SOURCE: Need a service/repair manual for a Kenmore refrigerator.

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.
Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

How to check everything
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

SOURCE: refrigerator not cooling - freezer is very cold

Hello there:
There are several different things that could make your refrigerator not cool properly.
I have compiled a list of things that you should check out and how to check them ok
It's not cool If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running. First, answer these questions: Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it. Next, see if the compressor motor is running The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help. If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these: The compressor The Thermostat The overload, relay, or capacitor The defrost timer The condenser fan motor Cooling is poor For an overall understanding of how refrigerators should work, read about refrigerators in the How Things Work section of our website. A refrigerator or freezer that is cooling, but cooling poorly, may have a problem in one of several areas: Evaporator coils Condenser Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost build-up on the evaporator coils or a condenser that is clogged with dust, lint, and dirt.
I will continue the rest of the post in a seperate post to allow for full detailed instructins

You need a service manual. My refrigerator is a different model. A diagram for installing the freezer tub rails or other installation of the parts might be found in the service manual of your unit. You can check the availability of the service manual from Samsung's authorized parts distributor. You can get this information in two ways - online and by phone. Have your model number ready for either option. You can order the manual over phone by contacting Samsung's parts distributor, Samsung Parts, (also known as J&J Parts) at 1-800-627-4368. Hours of operation: Mon - Fri from 9:00 A.M to 8:30 P.M EST.

Frost build up in freezer

Probably a defrost problem no doubt. Remove the access cover and look for ice.themobilian_2205.jpg
If yours is an older model which has a mechanical timer what you do first is find the timer and try advancing it manually.themobilian_2206.jpg If it kicks into the defrost cycle then it could just be hung up. If by manually advancing it to defrost you don't see or hear any signs of any defrosting going on then maybe the heater or the heater thermostat has failed. If yours is a newer model which features automatic defrost you can check the heater and the termination thermostat and force defrost from the board or cold control.

That MIGHT be the control board but before you order anything you should check the thermistors. The board relies on data from them thermistors. If one is out of spec or even out of spec then that throws a monkey wrench in the works. What you need is a manual which shows the locations of these thermistors and some diagnostics info. Check your owner's manual. There may be a "reset process" that you can perform in order to restore the refrigerator properly after a power outage. Otherwise, there may be an issue with the "main electronic control board". If this is the case, contact an appliance service company. If within warranty, contact Samsung!

NOT COOLING IN THE REFRIGERATOR

Yes it could. On most refrigerators the condensor fan is always on when the compressor is. If this is computer controlled it should still come on shortly after the compressor starts. If this stays off the compressor will overheat and cycle on the overheat/overload sensor. THis would definately cause your symptoms as on most boxes all cooling coils are in the freezer and the fridge is cooled by cold freezer air. On a computer controlled model it could be programmed to cool the freezer first then let some down to the fridge.

I fixed my problem with the fan not working in the refrigerator section. It ended up being the fan motor. The way I nailed it down was to temporarily switch the wires to the fan motors in the connector on the circuit card. This electrically powered the freezer fan from the refrigerator side and visa versa. The fan still worked in the freezer side (running of the refrigerator circuit) and was still inop on the refrigerator side proving that there was nothing wrong with the circuit card or possible other factors driving that circuit (other than the fan motor). I ordered and installed a new fan motor (about $50) and now everything works fine. It seems that the original problem caused the circuit card to shut down voltage to the bad fan motor that's why when you checked the voltage from the circuit card, it was nill causing you to falsely believe that it was not the fan motor. Yes, I did a resistance check on the fan motor and it was very close to being the same as the freezer motor (same part number).
